Is anyone else trying to comply with the regulations concerning the use of appliances during this "heat emergency"? I'm tired of running my dishwasher at 11 PM and doing my laundry at 7 AM. Mostly, though, I want to use my vacuum cleaner. Somehow I just don't have the energy to use it late at night or early in the morning.

Posted: 8/3/06 at 9:02amI FINALLY have a day off from work and I desperately need to get a lot of laundry done. I don't know how I can avoid doing some of it during the day. I'll try to hold off until tomorrow - but I'm running out of clothes!
A click for life.

All you people do is complain!
(Just think, now you don't have to go to the Bahamas to get to some hot vacation weather!)

Posted: 8/3/06 at 10:28amI'd just like to know why ConEd decided this morning -- from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. -- was the perfect time to start some work on my street, complete with nonstop jackhammering during those two hours. I know that they probably don't want to work in the peak heat hours, but was this work so critical that they couldn't wait a few days until the heat breaks, thus not creating an entire block of sleep-deprived people?

Dolly, we do everything early and late here, like that....but then that's desert living........
What I never got is if EVERYONE does their laundry then, how does it help?
Interestingly enough we've cooled down here.....

We are trying to only cool one room and stay in it. Lights are kept to a minimum, and I may either have the computer, radio, or TV... but not more than one at a time.
