Something that's highly unnerving me lately is the tendency for Wikipedia articles to relate every single thing in the known universe to The Simpsons (Or Family Guy. Or Futurama. Or What have you...).

For example, you could be reading a story about the Reconstruction after the Civil War, or World War II only to come to the end of the article to find:

"The Reconstruction was mentioned on the following episodes of The Simpsons..."

What if future schoolchildren are required to know the episode numbers and exact lines of Simpson episodes?

Or if it affects documentaries as well, since all WWII vets will be dead:

"There were four of us that night when that Simpsons episode came on..."

I know this was probably a meaningless rant but if I'm going to read about WWII, I don't care about which Simpson episodes involved it.

That's why Wikipedia is not a real resource. It can be edited by anyone, so there could be some Simpsons freak on there relating the show to everything he can find.

thank you Suzy.......Wikipedia is crap, and not verifiable.

what you should be MORE concerned about Cruel, is why are current schoolchildren even using Wikipedia?????

It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story... AGATHA CHRISTIE, Life magazine, May 14, 1956

Because it's easier to log onto Wikipedia than to check out an encyclopedia?

The thing about Wiki is that it's just so damn addicting. I have the exact same problem with real encyclopedias.
