but there may be an explanation for it.
Once I've said a word enough times (like..."those"), I start wondering about how the word sounds. Why it sounds like that, and the word itself just becomes peculiar to me. The way it's structured, the way it sounds, how it means what it means. Then after thinking about THAT for a bit, it's like I never want to use the word again because it sounds so strange.
But I get over it. Is this just a weird..quirk I have?

#5re: This may seem VERY odd...
Posted: 12/30/05 at 10:51pmI'm not sure how to explain it really. It's not that I don't want to use the word, but it's just that...the word just suddenly seems odd and not used very...frequently? Bagh, I'm not sure.

Posted: 12/30/05 at 11:11pmWhoa! I do that too. Another weird thing I will do is stare at a word that has simple spelling and wonder if it is spelled correctly and think that it makes no sense. And, when I was younger, I would stare at a picture of an easily recognizable celebrity until they would not look familiar anymore. I guess it was more like looking at specific parts of the face rather than the whole face. I remember the first person I did that with was Mrs. Garrett on the facts of life...lol. I just remember thinking that she looked nothing like I actually thought she looked. I am weird.

Posted: 12/31/05 at 12:14amI always question the spelling of words when I have to write them in all caps... my brain focuses on them differently.

Posted: 12/31/05 at 12:22amokay I just thought of something else that I think is wierd of me: I start to think of what things would be like if certain animals were named something different. Ex: if a bird was named "elephant" and vice versa. How wierd would it be if we pointed up to the sky and said "hey look! it's an elephant" *shrugs* I just always think things like that when I get too thinking too much. Anybody else ever do this?

o.o I always had those thoughts ever since puberty. I always freaked out when I realize that and try to trail my thoughts elsewhere. It's great to hear that I'm not alone and I'n not crazy...

Posted: 12/31/05 at 12:51amI used to wonder if everyone saw colors the same. Like maybe when I see red, someone else may see what I see as blue. It's just one of those weird kid things, I guess.

Posted: 12/31/05 at 1:44amOo I did that with the word 'enough' one time on a car ride and made myself nauseous. I do it with other words too. Not on car rides though.

I do it too...
I once freaked myself over the word YELLOW.
I mean, look at it. Why is it spelt like that?
It's CRAZY!

Posted: 12/31/05 at 4:57amAh yes, my friend and I have had LONG conversations over people seeing colors differently. And I do that with words all the time. I once became obsessed over the word "lady". It lost all meaning after a while and I just said it over and over, not remembering what it meant.

Posted: 12/31/05 at 10:36amhahaha that reminds me of this ray romano bit where he says a 2 year old can amuse himself for hours on end with one sound, like "ladle ladle ladle ladle ladle" -- and then i realized the same goes for me.
