"When do we start?"
Sold.
Of the individual character movies Thor was far and away my favorite.
This is the only Marvel film I'm really excited about this year.
I'm really more into DC than I am Marvel and I was blown away at how much I enjoyed Thor.
Having Kenneth Branagh as your director helps any genre.
Really? Thor is one of my favorite characters and I hated the first film. It's like Marvel took it's biggest character and made the smallest film out of it. Every scene was either in a dark blanketed room, or in that hick town.
This trailer feels more like a Thor movie. It looks huge, and has so much scope. I guess that's what happens when you get a Disney budget.
Either way, I'm sold.
Hmmm, maybe that's why I liked it.
As I said, I'm a DC guy, more specifically a "Bat Family" guy. Which is a lot smaller, more intense and "Dark Blanketed Rooms".
I like my super heroes to be a bit less "indestructible" so I think that is why I've never been able to get into Marvel - especially Thor. As a result, I had zero expectations going into Thor. That certainly helps.
That's one of the great things about comic books though. The very reason one person hated a story can be the reason that another person loved.
I find Thor the least interesting when he's just in Asgard or the other realms doing Asgard type things. He's at his most interesting when he's on Earth and dealing with the great contrast between him and humanity and simultaneously finding the connection to them. Thor is a huge character who exists in a smaller space, and that's when I find him the most fun. So for me, the first film was great. The runs of the comic book that are just old Asgard stories bore the crap out of me; but J. Michael Straczynski's run bringing the sharp collision of Asgard to Oklahoma will entertain me forever.
Patronus, it's actually interesting that you say you like DC because you like your characters less indestructible, because I think overall, the expectation is that DC deals more with god figures and Marvel more with men.

I'm looking forward to this film. I really enjoy Chris Hemsworth in the role and thought the first film was terrific. I also saw it on the day the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA championship. Though I cannot recall the last time a superhero film was released in November. I hope that does not affect its box office gross since it's not playing during the summer.

Thor is definitely the hottest Superhero with those gorgeous golden locks and Chris Hemsworth is dreamy! So glad Natalie Portman is back too.

In the overall scope of the DC vs Marvel Universe that is absolutely true. It's why I'm always quick to point out that I stick with more of the Batman arc than anything. (Batman, Batgirl, Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Jim Gordon etc) Honestly, my favorite aspect of superhero based comics is the character of Robin and how the different people to be Robin have dealt with that role. I'm absolutely hoping that Harper Row becomes the new Robin, but that's another topic entirely.
Beyond that guys like Oliver Queen/Green Arrow etc. I guess I'm a sucker for flawed vigilante types with with a moral code. Interestingly, I've been getting into Marvel more as a result of the Iron Man films - again, rich guy with no powers other than an unlimited budget. I wonder what Frued would say.
I don't really care as much for Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern either, but as a child I think I just got more comfortable with them than I did Thor, Hulk, X-Men because I would watch Super Friends and Justice League for Batman.
Im with you, i dont like Superman, hes too perfect, but i do like Batman.
Of course, i think the Fantastic Four are the best!! :)
