Adored her in OLIVER! Simply magnificent.
Just imdb-ed her and it says she is on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.

Well, it's not working...but if you look her up on imdb, it has a list of her credits...
She's still alive,
but the last thing she did was Young and the Restless in 73'

She did lots of musicals in London before the film of OLIVER!...CALL ME MADAM, IRMA LA DOUCE, WONDERFUL TOWN. On Broadway she did A TIME FOR SINGING (there is footage of her singing "Let Me Love You" on the Ed Sullivan Show) and she later played Sally in FOLLIES in California with Juliet Prowse, Karen Morrow, Susan Johnston and Yma Sumac. She also toured the world with her excellent cabaret act.
EVIL RUMOUR DEPT: She got the role of Nancy in the movie over Georgia Brown because she was the producer's girlfriend at the time...

Posted: 7/27/05 at 1:12pmThe PR materials for the film called her the "british Judy Garland". Interesting.

Posted: 7/27/05 at 2:05pmEVIL RUMOUR DEPT: Georgia Brown got the role of Nancy because she and Lionel Bart were childhood friends. It is said that Bart wrote "It's A Fine Life" specifically for her.

I wonder why they didnt give Nancy to Georgia Brown...
I LOVED Shani Wallis in this role. She was actually quite a popular singer as well, cabaret, etc. in England, from what I understand.

Posted: 7/27/05 at 5:08pmi thought it was perfect casting... you can sympathise for her because she acts it so well. I mean look at the bit just before as long as he needs me, i've never seen anyone get the character like that before, you can see the devotion she has to saving the child but then ofcourse as long as... shows her battle to do right for everyone! I think she's superb!

Posted: 7/31/05 at 10:26pmI just remembered...Shani was recently in the West End production of ALWAYS , a rather terrible musical about Wallis Simpson (You can hear the producers now, can't you..."But we gotta cast her! Their names are both WALLIS!!"). I think they made a cast album...
