I'm in Davie Sabre, just some small gusts, almost nothing so far, no rain yet.
Been watching the webcams for The Keys lotta wind and rain but seriously I've lived thru worse ( and at sea!) Daybreak is when sh!t is really supposed to hit. Get some sleep now.
Still on the grid, family members to the north in Boca have lost power, and to the south in Hollywood.
Webcams all down in the Keys. Saying now St Petes will be hit harder than Tampa.

South Florida is an idiot for not leaving, and I hope he regrets his jokes about this deadly storm for weeks & months to come. You'll be lucky if only property is damaged. Meanwhile, your fellow citizens further south are losing their lives. You pathetic, old, lonely man.
Dear Headband-
Get cancer and die a slow agonizingly painful death. Get started as soon as possible please..
Thank You
Still just drizzling here. It's a little windier than normal and much cooler than normal for this time of year.
Waiting on the heavy stuff later tonight, here in Orlando (which is not an evacuation zone- in fact, many evacuees from south Florida have come here).

My people in Tampa are without power, but tree limbs were the only damage for their property.
For those of you who didn't follow the news, Irma took a last minute jaunt to the east last night, resulting in the eye of the storm passing almost directly over my property here in Orlando. It was pretty dodgy between midnight and 3 AM. We spent the night hunkered down in a closet. The power went out just before 1 AM, but down the street it's not off, so I'm hopeful we'll be restored soon.
As far as damage, two trees came down. One is in the middle of my yard, the other is along the tree line (I back up to the woods). Neither posed any serious threat to the house itself. There are branches everywhere and every type of leaf imaginable is in my yard. I have one small leak on my roof. Beyond that, we made out ok.
This was my first hurricane since moving here 7 years ago. The storm rolled over us as a category 2, and I cannot imagine what it's like riding out a category 4 or 5.

I am further east than you, Jacksonville, and we were hard hit. The size of this storm was unbelievable. There are many homes damaged, fallen trees and record flooding. Parts of our downtown and other areas are under water. I own a condo (top floor) and so far as I can tell some of the serious damage are missing shingles and damage to the roof's rain gutter. Other damage was to various carports and a few fallen trees. At this point, the shingles are my main concern. Ironically, after all of that, I never lost power.

My relatives in Tampa area - still no power. Minor tree damage to their property.
Power back up at our place in Sunny Isles , but no AC- unit may have been damaged. Understand there is still an 8pm curfew in the area. Don't like to think of looting but desperate people do desperate things.

There are literally thousands of people who are now homeless that I would call desperate, yet they haven't chosen to loot. If these people were indeed desperate as you say, I would think they would want to obtain food, water, blankets, etc. Not grab overpriced sneakers from a Foot Locker. Just saying.

My power came back on this afternoon (and with it, running water since we have well water). However, almost half the state remains without it, so I'm one of the luckier ones.
I'm anxious to get back to work and some normalcy, but we're closed until Monday.
Back up an hour mow, thanks well wishers.
