Sure!
As long as they'll fit into my suitcase! Alternatively, I may take your cash and not turn up in October.
And for the record, my parents aren't paying for my trip - they are simply lending me a sum of money, to be re-paid at a later date. Which will be never.

Mm! Berries with creme fraiche and honey...I didn't try that when I was there! Berry tart seems doable too...maybe I'll do a berry or apple tart a la mode?
And where's a good place in NYC for creme brulee? It's still my little pleasure.

Posted: 5/26/05 at 6:04pmWell, it's my sister and two friends (hers). They're arranging it all - no tours. I think they're looking into some all-access rail tickets, or something. I'm the annoying kid sister who's tagging along. Hooray!

Vraiment? D'accord...sans a la mode, then.
I'm trying to go for as true as possible. I gave the crew a disclaimer with the veal last night - "If it tastes bad, it's just because it's authentic."
A bit of a lie, but I have to admit that many North Americans on my tours were dissatisfied with the food because it wasn't "like home". Aggravating, no?
Kissy...KissyKissyPooh, how 'bout a little one?

Posted: 5/26/05 at 6:06pmBetter call without the tour, I think. Especially since you've already been to Europe before, plus you're not hitting a ridiculously high number of cities in a ridiculously small number of days. Why are you skipping London? Do you have Chunnel aversion?

ummm... if it doesn't taste like home, it means it tastes BETTER! Because the products aren't genetically modifies, and are hopefully organic... Pasta isn't a main course... It's a primi piatti! You get a tasting before the meat or fish dish!
*sigh*
as you can tell, I take my food VERY seriously...
Maybe....

I want to go to London, but they don't - I think they're more into the 'continental' experience. I'm not really too pushed about London myself, actually. I just want to see some West End shows! Was Chicago your one and only?
And I don't really like the idea of tours - looooong bus journeys, surrounded by doddery geris. Am I wrong?

tours frighten me... though in certain countries, I think they are necessary... Not in Europe though...
As long as you eat well, Ellie!

Same here Cooks. I live and breath for food, as my expanding belly will tell ya. Unfortunately, my insistence that the penne and spaghetti be served before the veal meant everyone was too full by the time I served the main.
Damn Yanks.
But I trust you, so...spill it? Lover?
SmElls, unfortunately Chicago was my only show, because we had dinner with some friends on my last night there. I'm kicking myself too because, as predicted, Billy Elliot still had orchestra tickets available at the B.O. but noooo...
Actually, the long bus journeys were brutal, but the doddery geris were varied! For the first tour (the comprehensive one), I was the youngest, followed by my aunt (who's in her late 40s!). However, they were SO vibrant, talkative and friendly, and I'm convinced they had more energy than me! We all got on great. I honestly think part of it is because there was such a high number of Aussies - they were so carefree and hilarious.
The second tour...the mean age was rougly 68. I'm not kidding. And it showed. Luckily you can just relax in the Loire, but there's a lot of cobble stone, uneven sidewalks and stairs (in chateaux, etc.) and it was BRUTAL waiting for people (and for some of them, their nurses!).

I always eat well, Cookie!
By the way, is that your bulging biceps I spy?
Tiff - so you chose Chicago, a show that's been running for years and with an NYC counterpart, over the new and exciting Elton John-penned musical, Billy Elliot. Are you on crack?
And did you find any romance with the geris? At that age, their standards must be dropped, giving you an excellent chance!

Why yes, Ellie.. that is... :)
Well, with the London shows,I always pick one that isn't playing here or stopped playing here. But I've got the advantage of being in NY....
The best thing about eating well in Europe, is being able to gorge yourself, and then walk it off... I manage to always lose weight in Europe despite eating as much as I do...
#11163Good luck BST - "Picnic" opening in Davis tomorrow!

*headdroop* Well, it wasn't REALLY my fault - the aunt didn't want to go trekking all around for Billy tickets. We were in Leicester Square and she was already complaining of fatigue and tired feet (all this after she asked ME if I would be "fit" enough to withstand all the walking and such!). She was pulling for Woman in White and I went no, no, no, no...we'll do Chicago instead. I didn't know at the time that there was all that drama with Simon Breen filling in at the last moment, but in retrospect, you could see the strain. And Breen looked uncomfortable as hell.
Funny you should ask about romance with the geris, because we were ALL swooning over a gondolier in Venice who was a total, sun-beaten deadringer for Dennis Quaid. I mean, double-take-worthy. And I could drunk with the geris in Monte Carlo. One of the nice Aussies won EU10,000 on his THIRD pull at the slots! So it was rounds and rounds of drinks for all, and then I passed out on the bus. Good times. I, myself, put in 20c and won EU20. Uh...yay.

Oooh, first we get a peek at Baby Cookie, complete with one sock higher than the other, then a quick glimpse of calf...whatever next?!
And Tiff will be in NYC in October, so she has no excuse really.
Apart from the drugs.

*smacks Cookie* Don't rub it in. I've got blisters upon blisters on my feet from the walking (especially in Italy! Oy!)...I don't know if it was due so much from the amount of walking as the impracticality of wearing 3 inch boots though.
I've still managed to get fatter. I think a lot of it is from the brutally long bus rides. I'd still be eating the full 3 meals (with lunch and dinner usually being 3 courses, or at least lunch would be ladened with carbs), and I'd be sitting on the bus for 5 hours a day. It's okay...after "French Day" this weekend, I'm off carbs. No more. I actually wanted to detox on my first day in Tours, and only have veggies and fruits, but that was a lost cause.
And is it just me, or are crepes overrated?
I can't WAIT until NYC in October!!
BRB loves - have to run some errands. Will be back in half an hour!
(By the way, have you seen today's Access Hollywood? That Tom Cruise...what a loon.)

Bye, have fun on your 'errands'!

I'll start a thread commemorating you two when more people are online tomorrow.
BST, I'm out during the day tomorrow, and I take it you're off being a stage star tomorrow night, so I'll call you late tomorrow and you can tell me what it feels like to be robbed of a Tony and I can tell you what it's like to spend your days chewing on your own phlegm. Tasty.
And I'm rarely on AIM because the last few days, I've been popping on and offline sporadically. And I have you on my Blocked list. Oops. I mean...you just keep missing me. *nods head eagerly*
