Time Warner Cable peeps - we about to lose our MTV, VH1, Comedy Central? — Page 2

TVLand and Nick at Night are my insomnia buddies. I will not be happy to see them go--even for a short time during the "negotiations". TWC had this problem with our CBS affiliate a few months ago. We were without that network for a few weeks. TWC offered free antennas to pick up the local affiliate but my reception wasn't good enough to watch anything on that channel.
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

This isn't going to last long...Viacom is going to lose advertising dollars...and Time Warner is going to lose subscribers. The only thing that's going to happen is Time Warner is going to raise its rates to offset the increased fees that Viacom will be charging.
Although I'm not a huge fan of Time Warner...I'm on their side in this particular battle.

beacon you must be near me.......we lost the CBS affiliate too.
Diva, there are a few shows I watch on VH1, but not too many. MTV? I don't know the last time I watched anything on MTV.

I was watching The City on MTV this morning, and I saw this. This makes me mad because aside from local channels, some of my favorite shows are on MTV and The-N. Right now on MTV, they are saying that tonight, Time Warner Cable will be dropping 18 channels, and there's a number subscribers can call to voice there opinions and stop this.
In a way, this might be a good thing. I've been watching too much tv lately. I might go read a book or something.

Here in Colorado, we have Comcast and lost MSNBC on standard cable. You now have to get the digital package to see it. They also took away the TV Guide channel and channel 1 with listings. People were not happy. I think we lost a few other channels as well. I just kept my basic cable. But the nice thing is that when we switch over to DTV in February, anyone who has cable will not need the converter box. All of our wiring is underground and we will automatically get the digital signal.

All the Viacom stations are still running at my house (according to my BF cause I'm at work and can't check myself). If they're still running in 2 hours (after midnight on the west coast) I'll be more comfortable.

Maybe not on this board, but many of the top rating cable shows are on Viacom channels. Spongebob makes Nielsen's Top 20 cable shows at least once every week.

I admit to watching Spongebob when my kids are nowhere in the vicinity.

I haven't watched MTV or VH1 since the 80s. I stopped in the 90s when all they ran were, "Remember the 80s?" shows.

Artscallion, you've been missing a lot of bad reality television in that case!
Stockard, I also love the Mighty B. It's a cartoon created by Amy Poehler. It's actually pretty hilarious!
