Hey
I'll be going to NYC from the 27-29th of October and was wondering if anyone has information on anything *fun* (out of the ordinary)going on in the city that weekend. I heard about the Broadway in the Park series over the summer, and they just had the flea market...
Well, I'd really appreciate anything you could recommend. Thanks.

Now wait a minute, there's going to be the Kareoke night with Wing down at Joe's Pub. Then there's the Idina Menzel look-alike contest in Shubert Alley. And how can we forget the free coffee that is served at the Corine's Corner.
You'll have a blast!

Jose,
I am an expert in this area. I am trying to help her.
And so what if I am a member of NYC and Company.

I love New York!
I believe the NY BWWers should start singing the old "I Love NY" commercials.

I just don't understand why people cannot figure out on their own that GOOGLE is their friend.......how bright do you have to be to google NYC??????
It's one thing to say, 'Hey guys I'm coming to town, anyone want to get together?"......it's quite another for an intelligent being to NOT know how to use a computer to find out what is going on ANYWHERE in the world. If I can do this for Ljubljana, Slovenia, YOU can do this for NYC...ARRGH
ok, so I'm not feeling well today and this REALLY got to me.

YessicaB, when you get to NYC, buy the magazine Time Out. It lists many events that are going on in the city.
It's too bad that you weren't here on October 31 because the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade is always unusual and something to see.

"I need to see that someday Goth"
Unfortunately like many other good things, it has outlived its usefullness. People stand seven and eight deep to see the parade and it's difficult to enjoy with such a crowd. NY1 now broadcasts part of it, so us fuddy duddys can enjoy it in peace. Since they pretty much allow anyone to march in it, the cool thing is to be part of the parade.

Posted: 10/7/05 at 10:52amyeah, same with the Castro.......too many people, and so many come in from the suburbs, that the "official" celebration is held in the park in front of City Hall........but the costumes in the Castro always seem more fun. Although in SF it's not a parade, more people standing around for people to see their elaborate costumes.....

Mag, I'm not a New Yorker either........but I also realize that people will (usually) only tell you about things they are interested in, hence in some cities I missed things when I was young. I usually go online find the things that interest me, and then ask friends there what they think.
I like finding things myself. I like being proactive about my travel......but that's me.
