To the socially liberal Republicans...

...you will notice that the anti-Bush icon is back. It may not be a surprise why, but in case you don't know, I'll fill you in:

For months and months you told us that Bush wasn't serious about his constitutional amendment--the one which aims to place 10%+ of the population as second class citizens. It was just political tactics! This alone would be damning, given that time and tax payer money was wasted for strictly political purposes. Goodness knows there aren't more pressing issues than suppressing those gays!! Men and women in monogamous relationships is sooooo much worse than terrorism or war! Kill the brown skinned people, but don't you dare let two men have our precious rights! Oh, it worked--got plenty of bigots to the polls. Congrats. Hope that is something to be proud of.

Then, when Shrubya was elected (that IS unless Ohio ends up totalled as Kerry's To the socially liberal Republicans... ), we were assured that Bush wouldn't continue this crusade. He's even in favor of civil unions!! And yet, today, I see that that fat f**k, devil's bastard minion, Karl Rove, assures that Bush will indeed be pursuing the constitutional amendment because "if we want to have a hopeful and decent society, we ought to aim for the ideal, and the ideal is that marriage ought to be, and should be, a union of a man and a woman."

What a load of HORSECRAP.

Now, I don't see ANY way that even you, my beloved papa, can justify this crap.

And, I say now for anyone to read: if this happens, I will be among the millions raising holy hell in this country. I'm serious. There is no need to push for this nasty discrimination. And, hell hath no fury like one million+ angry gays and lesbians. We will march. We will scream. We will boycott. We will not be silenced. We will not be pushed back by bigotry.

Can you imagine if this were an amendment regarding interracial marriage? Or religion? This is so blatantly sick and repulsive--and yet this administration has no shame. If they have no shame stealing an election(s), going to war for oil, or reaching the lowest depths for political gain, then, of course, they will push for this. And history will look back on these people as bigots. Is this really the legacy they want on their shoulders?

And do you really want to be associated with this yourselves?

Well said. The sad thing is people in the future will look back in this day in age and shake their heads at how "backwards" American society was, akin to how we shake our heads at racial segregation of the '50s, etc.

And in fifty years, hopefully kids will read about it in their textbooks and wonder why grandma was so misguided and voted for that nasty, discrimnatory bigot.

jrb- you won't be alone in your hell raising. and i dare say it won't just be an army of angry gays and lesbians... i am a straight woman and a christian... i will be fighting right along with you. i would remind those who are working so hard to deny rights due to sexual preference to repeat the last five words of our pledge of allegiance.

re: To the socially liberal Republicans...

George Bush is a moronic clown...maybe we should all go into hibernation for the next four more years, and wake up in an equal America. A dream too far?

re: To the socially liberal Republicans...

This weekend, both Portland, Oregon and Seattle Wash protested Bush's re election and the war.....More Blue States should take note and do the same(maybe even some red states) this will happen again on Jan 20th.....I wonder if the media picked on this event!!!!

Unfortunately, and correct me if I'm wrong, but Oregon was one of the states that passed the gay-ban bill, right?

re: To the socially liberal Republicans...

fae--thank you for your comments (thank you all!). I really agree that it will be all Americans who believe this anti-gay movement to be injust who will be fighting the good fight. Because just as the civil rights movement of the 60s was the fight against discrimination of all races, this is the fight against discrimination against all Americans' sexual orientation and gender.

Maybe you should be writing your congressman a letter rather than bitching in a Broadway world message board. what good is your bitching going to do here? If you don't like what is going on then get out and DO something about it.

Silly Bitch,

As much as I love you, your last entry was a Broadway World abortion. Unfortunately, his congressman can't do anything. And what's he going to do, go out and protest in front of the white house? Nothing will change. He's voicing his opinion on here because there has been socially liberal republicans ****ing around here before. I think his post was amazing, it's not our problem you don't agree with it.

So go watch dance of the vamps.

I still love you but you just joined 7 minutes ago...you shouldn't already be acting like me.

Love always,
****opher

Silly B!tch

Maybe you should observe more before making a post like that. You'd know there was much history on this OFF TOPIC board leading to this thread. If you truly are a newbie, and not RodneyK in disguise, then you should hold off on such posts until you have earned your place around here.

And, please know that I will be doing much more than starting a thread on this board.

re: To the socially liberal Republicans...

the silly bitch obviously doesn't know you're our next president... girl you gotta do TIME on this board before you can start bitchin' at folks like jrb. most people never reach that level of authority. so you best respect! he's been here a long time and given us numerous thoughtful posts, so when he wants to talk about bush's anti-gay agenda, you listen, and you ponder along with everyone else. mmmmhmmm, respect!

Here's something else to ask your "beloved papa" if he defends. You'll have to ask him because I still have him blocked.

President Bush has announced his plan to select Dr. W. David Hager to head up the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee. The committee has not met for more than two years, during which time its charter lapsed. As a result, the Bush Administration is tasked with filling all eleven positions with new members. This position does not require Congressional approval. The FDA's Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee makes crucial decisions on matters relating to drugs used in the practice of obstetrics, gynecology and related specialties, including hormone therapy, contraception, treatment for infertility, and medical alternatives to surgical procedures for sterilization and pregnancy termination.

Dr. Hager is the author of "As Jesus Cared for Women: Restoring Women Then and Now." The book blends biblical accounts of Christ healing women with case studies from Hager's practice. His views of reproductive health care are far outside the mainstream for reproductive technology. Dr. Hager is a practicing OB/GYN who describes himself as "pro-life" and refuses to prescribe contraceptives to unmarried women.

In the book Dr. Hager wrote with his wife, entitled "Stress and the Woman's Body," he suggests that women who suffer from premenstrual syndrome should seek help from reading the bible and praying. As an editor and contributing author of "The Reproduction Revolution: A Christian Appraisal of Sexuality Reproductive Technologies and the Family," Dr. Hager appears to have endorsed the medically inaccurate assertion that the common birth control pill is an abortifacient.

We are concerned that Dr. Hager's strong religious beliefs may color his assessment of technologies that are necessary to protect women's lives or to preserve and promote women's health. Hager's track record of using religious beliefs to guide his medical decision-making makes him a dangerous and inappropriate candidate to serve as chair of this committee.

Critical drug public policy and research must not be held hostage by antiabortion politics. Members of this important panel should be appointed on the basis of science and medicine, rather than politics and religion.

re: To the socially liberal Republicans...

I just read an article about this on Planetout.com before signing on here this morning. For awhile I was hoping the marriage ammendment would be dropped after the electioin, but the fact that Rove is talking about it so soon after is truly disheartning.
I got into an arguement with a cousin of mine, who voted for Bush. I asked her how she could possibly vote for him with his stance on gay rights, and how that would effect me. Her response was that she wanted me to have equal rights tomorrow, but if Kerry got elected she was afraid there would be no tomorrow (She lives in a small town in Virginia.) I think she's already regretting her decision. Here's a link to the full artilce about Rove's comments. I hope Bush knows he's already starting to divide this country more than it already is..
Oh..and Munkustrap..PLEASE don't wish for a Bush assassination...that would mean Cheney would be President!

re: To the socially liberal Republicans...

According to Larry Kramer, 23% of gays voted against "us" (I'm assuming he means those who voted for John Kerry). That's nearly 1 out of 4. Perhaps before you start name calling and "raising holy hell in this country" you should look inward at your own community and figure out what's up with that.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
