I'm sure you'll enjoy it... I did!

You saw it already? LUCKY! I can't wait, cause I LOVED the first one!
Oy vey. Next we'll hear Julia Roberts is Sophie.
OH GOOD LORD! Can't they find ANYONE else? Tom Hanks is a good actor, but I'm so sick of him starring in every other film. And Russell Crowe would be the second most predictable choice. Why not throw in Ewan McGregor and Leonardo DiCaprio while they're at it? I'm so sick of seeing these guys all the time. Now Jude Law is being hammered into the public. UGH! Some of these guys are good sometimes (except DiCaprio, who is the same in every film except Gilbert Grape), but overkill breeds contempt. Isn't that what they say? If not, it's what I say.
I just had to get that off my chest.
My brother read the novel and suggested Harrison Ford as Langdon.
As for Nicole Kidman...
While she didn't deserve her 2002 Oscar (Julianne Moore did, but that's another post.), I'm sick of people saying that she's in every movie. It might seem like that, but she's really not. Let's take a look at her past several movies.
Birth- received rave reviews for her performance.
Stepford Wives- Some people thought she was great, others thought she was miscast (I agree with the former).
Cold Mountain- Gave an underrated performance, and received nominations for not only the Golden Globe, but the Empire Awards, Broadcast Film Critics, and the Las Vegas Film Critics.
The Human Stain- was breathtaking in a film that almost nobody saw.
Dogville - One of her most acclaimed turns ever. Once again, very few people saw it.
I see no problem with filmmakers using her in their films.

I tried watching Dogville, but was bored to tears. I watched about 30 minutes and gave up. The "Our Town" staging has been done to death and really didn't lend anything to the film other than an appearance of somnambulism.

"Birth"...that movie SUCKS
"The Human Stain" poor marketing.. it only played for a week (here)
Can anyone else see Liam Neeson as Robert Langdon? I think he would be good for it.

Hmmm... hadn't thought of that.
Landon MUST mave a mid-North American accent, though.
oh, I definitely agree with that, Rodney. I think that Neeson could pull off the accent, though.

He wouldnt be my first choice, but I think he will do really well. I might be a little biased because Tom Hanks is my favorite movie actor though. I think a lot of people could play this role. Any "leading man" in Hollywood in there 40s-50s could play him.
While I trust Hanks in this role, he would not be my first choice (though he does express thinking very well)

Looking at this from a different angle, Hanks could do better; he's a fine actor. But if he wants to work on relatively easy roles once in a while, more power to him. I'm mostly worried about a movie adaptation because the book's fangs are intellectual- the events that happen in the book are ho-hum typical suspense stuff. And movies aren't well-known as a medium for airing marginal historical ideas.

Personally,
I would hope the book has historical flash backs.
Like Leonardo delivering "Madonna of the Rocks" to the Nuns and him painting the Last Supper.
That would be cool.
Who would play Leonardo? John Rhys-Davies (Sallah from Indianna Jones and Glimli from Lord of The Rings) did a good job playing Leonardo in Star Trek Voyager (season four)
You could also have Isacc Newton.. who would play him? I would cast William H. Macey in that role.
Then there is the knight.. what's his name? The guy with the house in France? damn.. I need to read it again... maybe Sean Connery.
This movie has the potential to have a sh!t load of big actors in it.
I loved Voyager's take on Leonardo.

As I was referring about Nicole Kidman's performance in each, What am I supposed to do with these responses?
PS - "Dogville" was a great film. Either you got into it, or you didn't. And "Birth"? Didn't like it either, but Nicole was great.
I do think, though, that she was miscast in Cold Mountain.
I totally had Sophie Marceau in mind when I was reading the book.
Any thoughts on Silas? I, personally, was picturing Ralph Fiennes. (I was thinking of him in Red Dragon while I was reading the book.)
"I do think, though, that she was miscast in Cold Mountain."
Why do you think she was miscast? I'm not challenging, I'm really interested to know. I read the book, and it is true that her Ada is not the same age as in the book, but I couldn't see an 18 year-old play opposite Jude Law.
I found her Southern accent horrendous.
Exactly. I don't believe for a minute that she's Southern. And later in the movie, she's supposed to be a mess but she still looks gorgeous. Whaaa?
I don't understand why it is so hard to believe that she's Southern.
Her looks...
I thought that she looked like crap for most of the film. Her hair was all frizzy, as the war went on, she looked more and more desperate. It's not the first time that someone in that type of film role had looked horrendous. Take a look at Vivien Leigh in 'Gone with the Wind' (my fave movie, btw). She gets back to Tara after traveling in an open carriage for quite some time, and looks just fine.
Her accent...
I have family in North Carolina and Georgia that I visit very often, and I didn't notice any slipping in the accent. Besides, they had dialect coaches right next to the director, ready to stop if someone messed up.
