Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon stand-by

I was wondering if anyone has recently tried to get tickets to the Tonight Show through stand-by. If so, how early did you get there (I'm planning on getting there around 5:30AM the week before Christmas). Also why on the official website does it say there is a 5PM and 8PM show tapings on the same day? Is only one of those times the official show taping? Thanks so much!!!

They bank shows. They have Friday shows, but never tape on Fridays, pad advance taping for holiday weeks, etc.

^^ Letterman banks his Friday shows on Mondays, I believe. This is why Friday's monologue never has topical references.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

5:30a.m. does sound crazyearly just to attend a TV taping... especially when after all that sitting around, you only get to watch a TV taping...

I think you would have a better chance of getting tickets for the monologue. Standby tickets are extremely hard, especially for the time of year, and especially for the Tonight Show. 5:30 a.m. is very early and would be a major disappointment for you if you did not get in. My advice, if you like Seth Myers, to call the NBC ticketing line and see if any are available for him. It is usually easier. But do it ASAP, because they probably released the dates already.

It is very early but luckily my apartment is only three blocks away from Rockefeller Center. This will just be one of my last weeks in NYC before I permanently move to CA. I have heard that menu people line up as early as 4:30 for tickets. I may try and see what happens as I can do it every day that week if I don't get in once. I'll post what happens!

Fallon and his wife had their second child yesterday. There are no more new shows this week and I doubt he will be back next week. Sorry, kelkel.

They are on hiatus this week. He will be back next week. I am working on props for a new game they will be doing next week.

The baby arrived 2 months early. This week's shortened "hiatus" was not anticipated, just as their child's birth was not. I will be surprised if he is back on Monday. Only three days with your newborn before jetting off to work again?

Liza, I work on the show. They hired me before thanksgiving to build these props, telling me that they were on Hiatus until next Monday like Seth Meyers is.

ETA: I just got an e-mail from them asking me if they can pick these things up on Monday rather then Tuesday because they want to do the bit earlier in the week. So there you have it!
