OH, MARY! Reviews

Honestly, a film with Miss Piggy is the only way this works as a film, in my opinion. It’s so inherently a theatre piece, and I think Cole knows that too. Give me a Miss Piggy film or no film.

Equity actors tend to be W2, non equity are often 1099 (unless on a long term contract like a tour).

Stars have been a thing for a while. The problem is some people do out of four stars, some are out of five, so it can be confusing.

Jennifer Lopez to Star in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN Film
 Oct 14 2025, 07:00:14 PM

I’m honestly a bit surprised that people are having such an opposite reaction to me re: Tonatiuh’s performance. I thought he came off best in the “dream” sequences, but his performance as Molina was just so big and broad and theatrical that I found it absolutely didn’t work on film for me.

Jennifer Lopez to Star in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN Film
 Oct 13 2025, 05:50:33 PM

As someone who is completely new to Kiss of the Spider Woman, this was bad. The script was laughably bad. There were some beautifully filmed moments, but the only one who came through with some decent acting was Diego Luna. It was frustrating because it felt like there was an interesting story in there somewhere, but…oof, this wasn’t the one.

Wow, wow, wow. I saw this tonight and it’s the best thing I’ve seen in a long time. Incredible storytelling. It works so well in the intimate theatre. I’m telling everyone I know to try to catch it this month.

I loved it when I saw it in April.

Florence Welch’s GATSBY Coming To Broadway

I’m so much more intrigued by this one than the current Broadway Gatsby, but I just don’t see how they get people to come to another Gatsby.

Having given up halfway through that song, it didn’t sound like the lyrics fit the character of Andy at all? Maybe they changed her for the stage show.

Guess that means Hell’s Kitchen is closing?

ROB LAKE MAGIC WITH SPECIAL GUESTS THE MUPPETS to Open at the Broadhurst
 Aug 20 2025, 06:55:47 PM

I have never heard of him. I just watched the announcement video and thought he had zero charisma in that, and he clearly asks Kermit if they want to join him for AN illusion. So I think people going in expecting a Muppets heavy show are going to be sorely disappointed. And it will undoubtedly be the finale of the show so people don’t watch the muppets then leave (as some commenter on YouTube said they planned to do).

Jeffrey Wright & Octavia Spencer to star in DEATH OF A SALESMAN film
 Aug 19 2025, 10:38:01 PM

Jeffrey Wright is fantastic. Curious to see if/how this affects the Nathan Lane revival that I assume that recent anonymous audition notice was for (with dates fall of ‘26).

I keep forgetting about this, but every time I’m reminded, I think “oh yeah, that is going to be so good, I can’t wait.”

Around 5:50-6:00 this morning. I was around 60 or so in line I would guess.

Okay, well, the show is absolutely delightful. I thought the length was perfect. I don’t know enough about the script to know what was cut, but it’s a great night.
