So its my year to throw a Tony party for my friends, and I have decided to fulfill the daunting task of (dramatic pause) themed food! I went to one a few years ago that served food that was themed for different nominated shows (meat pies for Sweeney, southern food for Color Purple, wedding cake and "champagne" for Drowsy Chaperone). So I have decided to do the same for my party this year!
So far, all I have is something barbeque for Memphis and something green for American Idiot (yes, very original, I know).
So thats why I am asking you all for some help! If you can think of any ideas for party food based off of 2010 Tony nominated shows, I would appreciate it!
Thanks.

Well you could do a "Weekend in the Country" and put out picnic baskets, wine, cheese, and fruit. Use a picnic blanket as a tablecloth. :) Hope your party is swell.

What fun! I'm not creative enough for any ideas, but I just wanted to say have fun!

Funny!
Love that Barbie, er, La Cage cake!
For Fela! how about Nigerian food like meat pies or fried plaintains (Dodo), or Nigerian stew.
For American Idiot, a green salad with organic baby greens, or perhaps a "fool," a fruity dessert, kinda like an idiot.
For Million Dollar Quartet, there is Million Dollar Fudge, super easy to make, recipes abound for it but its signature ingredients are chocolate chips and marshmallow fluff. There is also Millionaire's Shortbread, a rich caramel, chocolate confection.

"Million Dollar Quartet" features Elvis as one of the principle performers. He loved peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwiches. Not something that appeals to me that much, but maybe your guests would like it. There's a recipe for it on the Food Network website.
For "La Cage aux Folles," you can take lyrics straight from the song "Masculinity," and serve "masculine toast, masculine butter," and cherry preserves. Of course, I don't know just exactly what masculine toast or butter would be, as opposed to feminine toast or butter, but you can just call it masculine and have it done with. And also, toast & jam might be a welcome alternative to peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwiches.
In any case, have a great party.
