Maybe he was just "full of himself" and was too proud. Just kidding. This is kind of sad. He was from around here (where I live)so this is upsetting. Now he's not going to be famous for his win. As Floyd's father would say: Naw Floydy vatcha do dat fur? :p Sorry. I guess I'm just so immune to all the Pennsylvania Dutch jokes that I start making them.

Say nah.....vat a stoopid think to do!

Seriously, this is so sad. They've been showing interviews with his family on TV and they are so proud of him...even though they discouraged him at first because this activity as a career didn't seem "appropriate" for the Mennonite religion....they saw how much he loved it and supported him.

Maybe there is a logical explanation?

If this is in fact true, it's very sad. What a shame.

CNN says he tested positive the day he had the phenominal day where he made up almost 8 minutes in time

They will do a new round of tests but he could be stripped of his win if he fails again

They're saying that the cortisone shots which he was taking (with permission) for his hip condition might have given him a false positive...

PLEASE let that be the case!

If not, then I just have to ask WHY he would do such a thing? It's so sad...

I hope that is the case, but why didn't it show up earlier? I thought they got tested after each stage.

They do.

The suspicious part is that the day he had his big comeback is the day he tested positive.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed...

sorry, kids...it is not sad if he actually tests positive. He deserves to be stripped of the win and kicked off the team. Why do people think they can get away with this anymore.

Pairs teams in ice skating are getting stripped of medals, for gosh sakes!

doodle, I agree. It's not sad if he, in fact, used illegal drugs.

There is, apparently, a slim possibility that it's a false positive. I guess I'm just hoping that's the case.

I think sad is mentioned in the case that if he cheatedp; not that he's being stripped of the medal.

It is sad that people feel the need to cheat on events that are supposed to celebrate the human spirit.

Granted, that is MY perception of what sports are.

"Granted, that is MY perception of what sports are."

Money + fame + human nature(greed!) x WIN AT ANY/ALL COST = The world's perception of sports today

The celebration of the human spirit got divided out of that equation LONG ago.

"2006 Tour de France winner Floyd Landis has been sacked by his Phonak team after he tested positive for the use of synthetic testosterone.

Landis' 'B' sample report which came out on Saturday confirmed the failed drug test.

The 30-year-old American could also lose his title and be handed a two-year ban from the sport."
