Last night was the launch for the very first Canadian Musical Theatre Festival in Toronto. It was an all star event packed with Canucks who have done Broadway including Adam Brazier (Woman In White), Louise Pitre (Tony nominee for Mamma Mia), and even the bookwriter from The Drowsy Chaperone Don McKeller giving tribute to another Canadian Marian DeGraff (who wrote Baker Street) who had just passed away.
So here's the challenge. Aside from those listed above can you name another Canadian Musical? If you can't answer that question, check out www.scriptlab.ca which is devoted to developing new Canadian musicals and has a fest going all week. Check it out!

Anne of Green Gables is, of course, the first that comes to mind.
I saw a fantastic, fantastic production of Dracula: A Chamber Musical, by Richard Ouzounian and Marek Norman. SO good.
Oh, Top Gun The Musical is Canadian, as well, I think. :) Absolutely hilarious.

Thanks Allie,
Top Gun! The Musical was my piece (well I wrote the music) and we were lucky enough to get a Dora nomination and a Canadian Comedy Award nomination. My latest show (THE GIANT'S GARDEN) is at the Canadian Musical Theatre Festival on Saturday night. For those of you who didn't see TG!TM when it was in Toronto, New York, or Houston, check out the website. It will be in Dallas in May. If you want to see THE GIANT'S GARDEN, get your butts down to the Canadian Musical Theatre Festival on Saturday night.
Cheers,
Scott
