We've had two threads today about the "Liza With a Z" TV Special--so here goes.
Liza's opening number in that special is "Yes."
What Broadway Musical is that song from?
GOOD LUCK, Everybody!!!
I thought Kander and Ebb wrote "Yes" specifically for "Liza With A Z"?
Well, unfortunately no, Jailyard... would you care to try again?
Another nice try melissa...
This one's pretty tough, I'll be the first to admit...
Seventy Girls, Seventy?
I'm guessing it is that or Flora, the Red Menace.
Or The Happy Time.
Hell, I dunno. Skip me.

Well, 1/3 right, I guess.
All I did was spurt out Kander and Ebb shows, so it wasn't really a legitimate answer.
Is it horribly wrong that I want to have Stick To Priest's baby?
"Hell, I dunno. Skip me."
Why would I want to skip YOU, Priest?
Your FIRST answer--70, GIRLS, 70 was 100% ABSOLUTELY Correct!
CONGRATULATIONS!
YES, the song "Yes" was featured in the short-lived Kander and Ebb musical 70, GIRLS, 70--Minnelli loved it and heard and decided to use it as the opening number for "Liza With a Z"!
What is this, Priest, your 999th win or something???
Now for your bonus points:
What is the plot of the show 70, GIRLS, 70?
Broadway Legend Joined: 12/31/69
Elderly residents of a SRO hotel in Manhanttan plan a robbery.
Can I answer?
It's about retirement home residents who become shoplifters.
That's a good Cliff Notes Version, Jose', but could you be just a little bit more detailed for us?
Thanks!!!
Yep, Jose's and melissa's answers are pretty much the core of the plot...
70 GIRLS 70 was about the elderly residents of an Retirement Hotel who rob minks and diamonds because 1) they want to prove that just because they're old--they're not weak and feeble; and 2) for the sheer excitement of it!!!
BTW, Welcome to the Trivial Pursuit Winner's Circle, melissa!
Well, looks like I have a three-way tie on my hands today (Priest, Jose', melissa)--but don't worry! I have PLENTY of prizes!!!
You all get the same thing: coffee--in a cardboard cup!
Enjoy your weekend, folks!!!
You too, M_E; basking in your 75 degree weather.
"Yes":
Yes, say "Yes"
Life keeps happening ev'ry day. Say "Yes"
When possibilities come your way
You can't start wondering what to say
You never win if you never play. Say "Yes"
There's mink and marigold right outside
And long white Cadillac you can ride
But nothing's gained when there's nothing tried.
Say "Yes"
Don't say "Why"?
Say "Why not"?
What lies beyond what is, is not
So what
Say "Yes" yes
Yes, I can
Yes, I will
Yes, I'll take a sip
Yes, I'll touch
Yes, of course
Yes, how nice
Yes, I'd happily thank you very much Yes
Oh yes
There's lots of chaft but there's lot's of wheat
say "Yes"
You might get mugged as you walk the street
But on the other hand you might greet that handsome stranger you have longed to meet
Say "Yes"
Yes, I'll walk
Yes, I'll look
Yes, I'd love to do such and such
Yes, I'll try
Yes, I'll have dare
Yes, I'll fly
Yes, I'll share
Yes, I'd happily
Thank you very much
Yes, oh, yes, oh, yes
You can't look back on a chance that's lost.
Say "Yes"
The dice mean nothing unless they're tossed
The throw is usually worth the toss
The hop op summer denies the frost
Say "Yes"
Yes, I am
Yes, I'll be
Yes, I'll go
Oh, yes
Yes
Yes!

Oh THANKS melissa, the weather in Dallas is one of the main reasons why I left the Northeast...
Dallas weather is just crazy.
It was in the 30s and 40s just the other day....
But FAR better than Boston, Priest (I went to Boston University!) -- where they have snow on the ground from October to April...
By the way, are you enjoying your coffee?
I'm a cold weather person.
Well, the University of Maine in Orono states it has a wonderful Theatre/Dance program.
Maybe you should consider it, Priest:

Nope.
It's all about NYU or Columbia.
Both Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II went to Columbia...

"Columbia, The Gem of the Ocean" is a song we used to sing often in elementary school chorus.
