re: Trivial Pursuit #98

Oh, I'm sure Michael Kidd's staging wasn't anything like the original; but why would anyone want to see the original staging in a 70MM Todd-AO super widescreen musical?! I sure didn't.

I dunno--perhaps for the purposes of Historical Accuracy?

Just my way of lookin' at it, I guess...
"I say YOU'RE the CUTEST one. No, I say YOU'RE the CUTEST One. And we go on like that from dawn to three."

re: Trivial Pursuit #98

Oh God no. That would mean Julie would have had to sing in a thin, brittle voice. *shudders* Anyway, it's more accurate than the lousy movie version of LADY IN THE DARK.

TOO True, Feodor.

As I'm sure you're aware, the film version of LADY IN THE DARK cuts "My Ship"--the song which is MOST intricial to the story-line!

re: Trivial Pursuit #98

"My Ship", what a great song. According to Julie, it is her favorite song.

When did she record "My Ship"?

re: Trivial Pursuit #98

let me just say i LOVED the movie STAR. i know i'm in the minority, but i really enjoy that film. The numbers are great, and the guy playing Noel Coward (whose name i'm ashamed to say i have forgotten) is so good---i think he was even Oscar-nominated.

Daniel Massey played Noel Coward in STAR!.

He was also Georg in the original Broadway Cast of SHE LOVES ME.

M_ETHEL, i know why I'M up this early. But why are you? did that mean cheap Fred Mertz insult you again, and you need a good pot of coffee, some donuts, and a wacky plan to teach the boys to respect us?!?!?

re: Trivial Pursuit #98

No, TxTwoStep, my reason for being up is simple:

I'm preparing for a Business Meeting I have in a few hours.

But THANKS for your concern. re: Trivial Pursuit #98

BTW, Massey also played Gaston in the original BROADWAY cast of GIGI...

re: Trivial Pursuit #98

dang, wish i could prepare for my business meetings on BWW (attention, producers---my idea for a new screen-to-stage musical is found in the Mary Stuart Masterson thread).
