I'm wearing them now too!
I'm so tempted to wear them out, but I don't want to ruin them in the snow and such.
"Every color, every style on everyone. Some even carry the bags now too."
How could I forget the Ugg bags!?! Is there really a need.. for a furry purse? They are popping up everywhere too, where I'm from. It was, I admit, a little scary when my mom handed me the Ugg catalog and said "Look, they have purses now too!"
They're quite ugly.
My school is obsessed with Uggs, fake or real. I have fake ones because they're pratical and keep me warm. I also have an Ugg poncho. One girl in my grade has the short adn tall ones in every color. It scares me.

I thought UGG boots were officially out of style. I keep up-to-date on my fashion style. I have a very "modern" sense of style, so maybe UGG boots are still "in" when it comes to other styles. In my book, UGG boots are so six months ago.
Other items that some might consider "in style" which should actually be burned:
- Peasant tops
- Ponchos (and any other item of clothing that has no definitive structure or shape)
- Pleated flowy skirts
- Tapered denim
Let me stop now or I'll be here all night...
I know what you mean. I thought Uggs were over a year ago when everyone and their mother was wearing them around here. Then I saw all the new colors and the knock-off versions and knew that the trend had officially been killed. And yet people are still buying them...
Last week, my sister bought a pair of real Uggs at a flea market for $3. She bought them knowing that the trend was on its way out, but wanted to brag to all the people at her school that she had spent $3 on the shoes they paid $110 for.
I don't know Joshua, I think tapered denim is making a fast comeback.
As for Ugg boots, I don't own any, the flat bottoms just turn me off them.

I have the knock off pair also. I was going to get those big fluffy ones but i cant find them in any of the stores.

They look like boots with premenstrual bloat.
Does anyone remember "Moon Boots" - I hate to admit I had a pair in the late 70's!!
A lot of people in my school have them! It's horrible. And now I'm sad-I have two ponchos that I've hardly worn and one (the Ugg one) cost A LOT.
Uggs are funny!
I think the trend started on the West Coast, because of all the surfers who wanted to keep their feet warm afterwards (back me up? Sounds random, but that's what I heard).
Anywho, before they became actual cold weather boots, my entire Jewish-Jappy-Private-High School had them. It was mandatory for admission, I swear. And the only way to wear them was with a skirt short enough to be a tube top.
I got them when I played water polo, because otherwise my feet would freeze. I found when I got to NYC, they didn't work so well in the snow, because they have no traction on the bottom.
Back to the topic...I think Uggs technically are "out of style", but very occasionally, function becomes more important than fashion. Very rarely.
ChicagoBwayFan, Moonboots are back, a lot of people have been getting them this winter. They're like the new Uggs.

My school is so quick to pick up on the worst trends. Last year it was the von dutch trucker hats, and this year....uggs. Uggly.
They're fine if you wear them UNDER your pants for warmth. But I can't stand the pants-tucked-in look, or worse, uggs with skirts.
Oh no, don't get me started on trucker hats. It deserves it's own thread. Just....
back to the ugg-liness that is uggs.
I go to a Jewish private school adn we have to wear skirts at least down to our knees. The Uggs looks terrible then. And I have short legs and my jeans are always long so I wear them tucked in to my Uggs.

My school is overrun with Uggs. And I live in California, so we have NO real excuse for getting Uggs other than fashion.
And my goodness, whomever thought up the Uggs and mini-skirts idea HAD to have been on something, because that is about the ugliest outfit on earth.
If people honestly wear then for the warmth and comfort, that's fine! But if you wear them with mini-skirts ADMIT IT, you are following a trend. Be honest. Please.
Irish Girl, I feel your pain! I walked around my high school (not in a mini skirt -- I didn't want to scare people!) in Birkenstocks. That's Californian. The Uggs? Those are Antarctic.
It was so funny watching all the girls in the identical skirt and identical uggs. Not to mention their identical noses, blonde hair with highlights, and identical jewelry.
Clones, all of them. Where is the machine that makes these people?

I KNOW! I gave up trying to get to know all the freshmen this year (a doomed task from the beginning) because all of them are IDENTICAL!
I wonder if they have a calling tree to let everybody know what to wear each day, because they SOMEHOW coordinate everything!
And WHY would you EVER strive to be exactly like some bimbo who will consider high school to be the best years of her life...
Ugh. Comformity in it's extremes annoys me.

The ugliset pair of uggs i have ever seen wear neon green. Why would anyone ever wear neon green shoes in the first place?
I resent that! I would love a pair of neon green shoes. I have no clue what I'd wear them with, but as simple flats, paired with a black outfit? C'mon, you must see the potential!
Cute when not worn with a tiny little miniskirt when girl's butts are seen. I also don't like when girls where them OVERjeans, with the cuffs tucked into the boots. They're cute if they're just worn with normal pair - my friend has a purple pair of knock offs she just wears with jeans and that's cute. Most of the time, they're a little TOO trendy for me - anyone know what I mean? I basically agree w/ Judy-i-d.

I own 4 pairs and have been wearing then LONG before the became popular! I too agree that they look silly with mini skirts but otherwise they are AMAZING shoes and I rarely wear anything else :)
I love the Uggs and own two pairs. They really are perfect for the cold weather. And also, I've worn mine with a mini skirt and haven't gotten a complaint yet!
