Ugly Betty on Fridays?
Ugly Betty on Fridays?#1
Posted: 9/25/09 at 6:58amI notice that the season premiere of Ugly Betty is next Friday night. If this is the new and permanent time slot, can we expect this to be Betty's 4th and final season?

Posted: 9/25/09 at 10:05amI don't know. I just read that people weren't tuning in to ABC until 9 on Thursdays but were watching Betty either DVRed or online later. They are obviously trying to find a slot that fits. I think Friday is horrible. More people are home on Thursday then Friday. I doubt I will watch it first run, now.

Posted: 9/25/09 at 10:44amIn recent years Friday night has become sort of a retirement home for shows expected to be dying soon. Noticed that Smallville's ninth season will also be on Fridays.

Posted: 9/25/09 at 11:08amYeah, I'm not too sure what this means for the show. My mom got excited because she wasn't home on Thursdays to watch it, but I told her moving it to Friday was probably not a good thing.

Posted: 9/25/09 at 5:16pmThe Friday Night Death Slot is an actual phenomenon in the world of television. Didn't Prison Break get moved last season to Friday night for its last few episodes?

Posted: 9/25/09 at 5:50pmI think it was. Has there really been a show that's thrived on Friday nights? I really can't think of one. It's where TV goes to die.

Posted: 9/25/09 at 7:16pmFriday nights are the time that channels use to slowly kill off some of the shows that were popular but now have declined in ratings.

Posted: 9/25/09 at 8:02pmTwo months or so ago I saw the first 15 minutes of the first episode. I was supposed to give feedback on the changes. They revamp Betty's look. She dresses sleeker and her hair is better because of her promotion. Think right in between where she was and looking like Wilhelmina in a sleek suit. I told them that made absolutely no sense in the theme of the show because if she cared anything about looking like the rest of them or fitting in, she would have done it season one. Now Matt is her boss and making things hard for her. I am sure Daniel is going to all, "wahhhhh, dead wife," and have no one to keep him in line. I don't know if they can make it work anymore.

Posted: 9/25/09 at 8:04pmI'm really nervous for the whole Matt plot. Out of all of the guys Betty has had interest in, Matt has been my favorite but the end of last season left me so angry. Also, I'm sad that there will be no more Christina :/

I'm actually really terrified about the move to Fridays, but I hope it works out in the end because I love the show very much. If it ends by May 2010, then it better go out with a bang. Four seasons isn't bad at all.
The only show I know that currently comes on fridays that has been successful is Degrassi, which is starting its ninth season on the 9th of October. Then again, it comes on a cable network, so it probably doesn't count.
In the past, ABC had its TGIF shows (like Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Boy Meets World, etc) that were a success on Fridays and didn't Reba air on Friday nights?
