Sue, I'm well aware what the Nazis did to the Soviet Union and its people, the sorrowful destruction visited on that nation and how most of those in the former Soviet Union recall those tragedies. But I'm not convinced that this article's account of pro-Nazi Ukrainian nationalists doesn't present another side of that. Certainly, there are real fascists with Nazi sympathies in the countries which were formerly Soviet, just as there are real fascists with Nazi sympathies in the U.S. and elsewhere and just as there are real White supremacists nostalgic for the Old South in the American South and elsewhere in this country.

I hated Harper Lee's follow up novels.

This gave me quite a chuckle. As a librarian, I am sometimes asked about why we only had her one book. Uhm...

And the entire South does not celebrate that war. A good portion, yes. A majority, maybe. But "entire" is too all-inclusive.

True, Wynbush, I thought most of us (perhaps not all but I would certainly hope all of us would agree) were careful to make that distinction, to clarify that genocidal nostalgia is not representative of entire populations (far from it), both with respect to the Ukraine and the U.S. South.

I'm so Southern; I have Christmas Eve dinner annually at Waffle House, and Thanksgiving at Cracker Barrel every year. I'm so Southern; I was born and raised thirty minutes from where Honey Boo Boo lives now.

I lived in Athens, GA for a while. Athens is a little liberal, free-spirit bubble in Georgia. The B-52's were formed in Athens. I, as well as many voters in Athens, wrote in "Charles Darwin" when Congressman Broun was running unopposed. Rachel Maddow featured it as a Cocktail Moment.

I hate when people even say "Northern aggression," and I get tired of seeing rebel flags in a state that once had it in the state flag. It really is practically everywhere down here. Sorry, South. We should have lost.

Namo, I know many sexy librarians. I know many straight-laced ones, too. But all of them I have known, and worked with are adamant about citing correct information and finding truth. Anyone can throw up data and scream that it is truth. A good librarian will show you how to verify if it is, or is not.

I recently watched a documentary called "The Forsaken Promise" which talks about how Britain ignored the Balfour Declaration. Britain may not have embraced Nazism but they sure didn't do any favors for the Jews. I wonder if at the time had they enforced a place for Jews in Israel/Palestine, would WW2 been avoided?

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
