United States of Leland...

has anyone seen this movie? I watched it last night and I still don't know how I feel about it.

I thought the acting was really good, even Chris Klein was good!! :)

Ahh! I've been wanting to see this movie for a long time but it's not available in Vancouver yet. (Did you see it in theatres or video?) Post or PM me a longer review - I'm especially keen to hear how Ryan Gosling was. I've been following his career closely and I think he'll be the next big thing.

God, that movie was depressing. But excellent performances from the entire cast.

re: United States of Leland...

There were so many people in it!! I wish Michelle Williams had a bigger role. i have always thought she was the most talented from the Dawson crowd.

Ryan Gosling was quite good. Tt's weird to think about how he grew up with Britney and Xtina.

Careful, now. Everyone from the groundbreaking show DAWSON'S CREEK is a phenomenal talent and deserves long careers. Saying one is better than the other is like saying you like one child better.

re: United States of Leland...

My brother is autistic, and his school sent letters to all the students' homes saying not to see this movie because they kill an autistic kid in it (or something... didn't see the movie, don't really know the plot). So, of course, I want to see it and find out what the whole big deal is.

I'll pretty much see anything Ryan Gosling is in after the awesome job he did in "The Notebook". And gotta support DCer Michelle Williams (even though Joshua Jackson was always my fav...)!

re: United States of Leland...

I think the plot is pretty much Ryan killing his ex-gf's autistic brother, and the aftermaths of it. Something like that.

Cowbell, if you liked The Notebook, you'll LOVE his other work. I liked his acting in The Notebook the least out of all of his recent films (and really, he was the best part of that movie) - you must check out The Believer and Murder By Numbers. The latter is just a meh movie, but his acting is GREAT. And I do believe he was phenomenal in The Believer - shame it wasn't released theatrically - he would definitely have been a shoo-in for an Oscar nod.

Decent in DC. Good in Murder By Numbers. Would really like to see The Dreamers. *drool*

Still, Gosling's my man. And a Canadian to boot!

re: United States of Leland...

Ryan Gosling is fiercely talented as anyone who was The Believer knows. Leland was a very odd movie. Well acted for sure, well directed too, but deeply flawed writing that made motives all too obvious and character development too by the numbers.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

re: United States of Leland...

I didn't really have any feeling about this movie after. The performances are good. Who would have thought a former MMCer is that talented (except for Keri Russell, I adore her)

But I felt this movie has the same sort of feeling as American Beauty.

Tom Arnold is sexy.

I saw this on cable yesterday. I felt like it had major potential that it never came close to fulfilling.. I can't fault any of the actors - they were all wonderful.
