I think it's a valid property. It's a shame if they don't use the songs. It's lots of fun to cast- But will they stick with the film's Sheriff or back to the stage's version of an older man who's had a long complicated relationship with Mona. Reba McEntyre has got to be top of the list for Miss Mona.

Bring back some of the cut songs, please! I would love to see 24 Hours of Lovin', No Lies, Bus From Amarillo and Doatsy Mae in the film. I could live without Girl You're a Woman and Good Old Girl.

I would love to see Alec Baldwin as the Governor and Molly Shannon as Doatsy Mae. Steve Martin could make an excellent Melvin P. Thorpe.

I can't imagine they'd cast Reba, I agree she'd be great in the role but I don't think she's a big enough draw for a movie audience. I might be wrong but I think they might get a bankable star.
I figured Reese Witherspoon, Carrie Underwood (who's trying to make movies now), and Nicole Kidman are at the top of the list

A) I like the original film
B) Why does it need an update? Can't they leave it in its time period?
C) I pray that they restore the original songs
D) Reba is a big enough draw.

I think Reba is perfect casting- she's spectacularly well-known in the demographic that normally wouldn't race out to see a musical. She would put plenty of butts in the seats.
