Had never really heard this song until Tuesday night, which I heard it off an 80's CD I bought at Best Buy for 10 dollars. I then realized that it wasn't the original artists singing the song. Let me tell you--I was PISSED.

However--I did like the song. It was catchy.

Parks:

I found this for you.
It's the Billy Joel "Complete Hits Collection 1973-1997: Limited Edition"
51 of his original songs on 4 discs.
Only $40 bucks from Barnes and Noble.

Guess he struck out with both Uptown Girl (Christie Brinkley) AND Just the Way You Are (Elizabeth Weber).

Just The Way You Are was going to be Chris' and my wedding song...*cries*

I think I bought the same thing as you, Parks. I cnan't remember what it was called, but it was a like 4-disc set for like six bucks and it had all these '80s songs on it that were synthesized and sung by some crappy group...

Well, now you can change it because your next boyfriend will be a lot better.

Someone has to say it.

Right now I'm listening to Jennifer Love Hewitt. What? Don't look at me like that. The song "Me and Bobby McGee" cracks me up.

To continue the song;

Uptown Girl,
You know I can't afford to buy her pearls,
But maybe someday when my ship comes in,
She'll understand what kind of guy I am...

I'm a huge Joel fan, but I don't like what he himself calls his 'mushy-mushy' section. I was at his concert here two weeks ago and he said just the way you are was bull because he wrote it for his first ex-wife!

You just have to like Scenes from an Italian Restaurant and Miami 2017.

The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

I'm a huge Joel fan, but I don't like what he himself calls his 'mushy-mushy' section. I was at his concert here two weeks ago and he said just the way you are was bull because he wrote it for his first ex-wife!

Did he then proceed to play it? I remember reading a quote from him about how he'd just think of what he was going to eat after the concert while singing Just the Way You Are. It really is quite sad considering it's such a beautiful love song.

Me and Ivan only have one song picked out. It's "Lullaby" from the Dixie Chicks.

I love "Your Song" but I don't think I'd play it my wedding.

I think we'd both love it if the Chicks came and performed at our wedding, but I bet that's a big "NO!" Unless we pay enough, of course.

I think the normal going rate for clebrities singing at weddings/birthdays/anniversaries etc. is about sixty grand.

Sorry for the song getting stuck in your heads.

I wonder, since I'm from Texas, that, um, they'll reconsider their going price.

You think?
