Using Craigslist for weekend lodging in NYC?

Has anyone used Craigslist to rent an apartment for a weekend in NYC? My boyfriend and I are trying to plan a last minute trip for this weekend, but we're not having any luck finding hotel rooms. There are some offers on Craigslist that look pretty decent, but I'm always skeptical.
Any advice? Recommendations for hotels under $150 or less, pretty much anywhere in the city, are welcome too!

Well, now I feel awful as there's actually a service in NYC that helps set you up for hotel-like apartments (sometimes they're furnished and owned by companies, sometimes they're apartments being sublet by vacation people) for good prices (like a few hundred a week) but I cannot find the name of the site.
Try googling something like that?

You might try looking at Hostels as well. They're usually cheap and many around town are fairly nice.
