I hate this show, so I missed it...did they show the whole thing, or was that it?
Seems like a great job, but cant tell really.
they only showed a few seconds on the show.
It was just that 20-second clip
I am in the front-row, far-right
I thought I saw you...congrats!

This isn't a great video, but is it the same routine?
Video link.
Largely, yes.
That's from the concert in March.
Stuff like this turns me off. It perpetuates the effeminate gay man stereotype.
Might I suggest a different screen name, then?

Brava, Calvin, Brava!
Ooops, I mean bravO, of course. Damn stereotypes.
Point taken. La Cage doesn't bother me, obviously. This does. Not sure why it bothers me in one context and not in the other. I'll have to think about it.
And you're certainly entitled to your opinion. The chorus contains a pretty wide range of the, so to speak, masculinity spectrum, though.
Yeah...god forbid the Gay Men's Chorus isn't "straight acting"!
Here, Albin. Is this more to your taste?

Blame Will & Grace (and Matt Damon) for the misconception, but the truth is, if a straight guy wanted to audition and made no secret about being straight, there's still nothing preventing him from becoming a member.

I wasn't crazy about W&G, but that episode cracked me up!
Albin...
The New York City Gay Mens Chorus prides itself on its ability to sing from a WIDE-RANGE of musical genres. We have 30 years of history and excellence performing classical, rock, pop, musical theatre, folk, hymnals, gospel, country and everything in-between (including traditional songs in many different languages). We are have performed in venues around the world including NYCs very-own Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
Our performance of Single Ladies is admittingly less-masculine (as it were) than our other performances. But keep in-mind that we perform it for the pleasure of the audience. Clearly, from both videos, they are enjoying it. AGT requested we perform that song on NBC. And in the other clip, that was our finale after an entire evening of sing-along songs from the unofficial gay-canon.
If you would like to witness some more professional or traditional choral singing, feel free to attend our FREE concert tonight at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine (6/24 at 7:30pm) or visit the many other videos on the NYCGMC YouTube channel.
So the NYC Gay Men's Chorus wants a year contract in Vegas??? Um...ok?
Eug...though well said, you need not defend the NYCGMC. The comment by Albin was idiotic and didnt deserve a response, imo.
CapnHook...
That is a very fair question. Let me underscore that progressing to the final winners spot and earning a Las Vegas act was never the NYCGMC's intention for performing on AGT.
AGT in fact invited us to the audition. We graciously accepting, realizing that an appearance on national television would be an incredible step-forward in the GALA Chorus movement and for creating a positive representation of LGBT choirs nation-wide. Our mission is to fight homophobia through song, and having NBC as a vehicle to do so (even in a 20-second clip) was incredible.
Though I cannot give details, it is likely that last night's episode is the last you will see of NYCGMC on this season of America's Got Talent.
