It's actually quite a cool idea, not fully sure if the whole thing isn't inspired West Side Story...or each promo will have a different artist doing a different musical?

edit: Just checked the website, seems like the awards show will have a West Side Story feel.

Very cool promo. Will probably watch the awards. Just checked out Cobra Starship's CD and I like the songs "Hot Mess" and "The World Will Never Do".

Autotune helps. I think she has some kind of tone to her voice, which I actually like, but note-wise... hmm. The video's cute, though.

That said, Taylor Swift's promo is up, and her voice is even more of a hot mess.

I actually liked both promos. I mean, we're always saying we want more theater/musical exposure and I can totally picture several teens & young adults liking the songs in the promos, then proceed to look them up online, finding where they actually came from, and new fans of West Side Story are born.

Yeah, you're right. MTV taking on musicals was never going to be like top quality stuff, but the fact they're doing it and pulling it off pretty well so far is something at least.

I hear Katy Perry is doing one...I'm thinking 'America'?

Looking forward to this years show, they seem to be properly focusing on performances this time...and I highly anticipate how many people Russell Brand (he's hosting again) can piss off.

I like Taylor as a songwriter, but it's a pity that she can't sing. She'd be okay if she stayed in her (very limited) vocal range.

Those were pretty cool!
Taylor Swift sang "Tonight" ok but i agree that Miley Cyrus could've done better.
Cobra Starship, in my opinion, did amazing!

That is some damn good advertising, not only do I wanna watch the VMAs...but I wanna buy the WSS Revival Cast Recording, too...(*Just stick with the movie soundtrack, Jazzy...you don't need to spend more money*).

I thought the promos looked great.

*side note, what is it about Swift's songwriting that people like? This "oh she can't sing but she's more of a songwriter" thing bugs me. Her songs are just as bland as her voice.

And Miley Cyrus doing better than someone is a major LOW.
