A newly disclosed document reveals that Vatican officials instructed the bishops of Ireland in 1997 that they must not adopt a policy of reporting priests suspected of child abuse to the police or civil authorities.

And this all happened under the watch of Pope John Paul II, who is currently being considered for sainthood. None of this seems very Saint like to me.

But he was a Cold Warrior and look/sounded pleasant! I am no fan of Pope Benedict, no doubt he is culpable in many matters pertaining to this, but, a lot of the criticisms heaped on him do belong the John Paul II.

And my parents still ask me why I left the church.

Cardinal Ratzinger (now Pope Palpatine . . . I mean Benedict) was the power source and idea-man behind John Paul II.

My mom got mad at me the other day because I said the Pope scares me. I literally look at him and get the willies. I don't know what it is.
