Oh no. Did he have to delay admission to culinary school?
I love it Namo, but I just donated $10,000

I came back a week ago. I was gone from Wednesday to Sunday.
And yeah, I'm back to my facinating life.
If you want, I can forward you the email I got from Red Cross if you don't believe me.

another great organization is UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). 100% of donations go to whatever cause you designate, and in this case it would (obviously) be hurricane relief. 0% of the donations go to administration funds, which is great. It is a wonderful organization and it would be awesome if you wanted to donate to them as well as/ instead of the red cross. and don't get me wrong the red cross is great too. here's a site for it...

I'm glad y'all think I'm lying. It makes me laugh.
And I did postpone culinary academy. I start in October instead of August.

Thanks for that link, shootinstr11, I am very pleased to see that the Red Cross now receives a 4 star rating on Charity Navigator. I always felt a little funny giving to them. But those smaller charities with low overhead are particularly great.

no problemo namo.. it only felt right to throw UMCOR out there since it was discussed in church today.

I'm more sad for the city itself. I hope New Orleans can recover and all the damages can be fixed.

I'm done with this. I'm going to go watch Edward Scissorhands. Or maybe Lost Boys.

Why not just watch Chicago? We can all see right through you, Mr. Cellophane. And don't forget that fact, because we won't.
I guess I'll be the one to point out the obvious, captain.
We don't necessarily think you are lying about your $10, we are pointing out just how easy it would be for you (or any of us to claim that you donated, just to make a point.)
By the way Namo, I appreciate your contirbution to Bill Frist '08, we decided all contributions to this disaster were best used on one thing, "Keeping Clinton out of the White House"
Thanks,
Dubya
Shouldn't your name be Captain Oblivious?
Must be nice to have so little critical thinking that everything is viewed in absolutes.
I partly think you are just trying to get a reaction with some of your posts. At least I hope that is the case. If not . . . well, then you are not worth any further bandwidth.

Throwing a little drama around with your pathological lies and personal misrepresentations?
I'm sure I speak for many when I say we probably wouldn't miss you if never posted again.
Wow, Captain. Just. Wow. I didn't think you could crawl any lower than you already had. I was wrong.

How low has Oblivious sunk? I would say, he's sunk so low he could do The Limbo underneath a rattlesnake slithering in a six foot ditch at the bottom of The Grand Canyon. And still have room to balance The Encyclopedia Brittanica print edition on his belly while he does it.
C_O words don't even describe how much you disgust me! I am still waiting for the evacuees from NOLA to come to a local church. When I get the phone call that they are there I will be there at least a day helping out however I can. The community around here has poured donations to their local churches and we are taking as many as we can.
C_O I honestly hope that you don't go through such a disaster. You aren't deserving of the help that I am sure many would bestow upon you.

Captain - I think maybe I'll save this one particular thread. It's not something I usually do, as I don't want to take the space in our system. But this may be just the thing to pull out when others jump down my throat for not buying into your bull. While it amazes me that there are still people who actually give you any sort of credibility whatsoever (some of whom I generally think are well-meaning and have at least a modicum of awareness,) I would just like to have a response that 'sings' with the beauty of your own words.
I can't imagine what your reality really is, but I just can't think that it's anything too pleasant.
Best kick of this thread?

Oh gosh, I shouldn't have put my real name in there. I think I'll go back and change it to Georgina.
Too late. Sarah Siddons is on her way over.

I was hoping if I put Georgina that Harry Reems would come over for a tearful reunion.

I guess all those people and newborn babies stuck in hospitals that weren't evacuated in time should be blaming themselves as well. Not everyone stuck in NO simply decided to stay and ride out the storm. If you had the mental capacity to try and wrap your tiny little mind around the idea of the evacuation of a major US city, then you would know that it was not boiled down to simply hopping in a car and driving away. The people who could get out had enough money to own cars, pay for enough gas to spend hours upon hours in traffic, buy plane tickets as well as pay for transportation to the airport, or buy a bus ticket and hope they can get on te already overbooked buses out of town. Cabs are not plentiful in NO and no doubt, many cab owners, like many police officers, left town and deserted the public. Plus, there were many tourists trapped in hotels like my friends, who did have the money to get out of town, but could not get transportation to the airport because everything was gone and those that weren't were booked to capacity and refusing people. Luckily, the hotel staff remained with the stranded visitors until buses could come into the city from out of town to pick them up the same day the buses arrived at the Superdome. Yes, a lot of people got out when they announced the evacuation, but by the time the hurricane hit, people were still trying to leave. It is an incredibly long process and without proper planning and organization, it is a chaotic nightmare, as we have all seen.

On a (sort of/maybe/not really) lighter note, Friday my school got 3 new students (who are all cousins of one of the seniors) that had evacuated from Louisiana, and one was in my class. All of their families had left before the hurricane expecting to just be gone a few days and they each had a small suitdase with them. I'm not sure if their homes were destroyed or not, but they had to go to Goodwill to buy clothes. My school (a private school) is letting them come for free, and they are all really nice. We were in English and our teacher said, "Johny, does everyone know why you're here?" (Stupid question) And he replied (with a smile on his face) "I'm a refugee!" and it was kind of funny. Well it was funny. And the best part of that day was when the football coach (to our team of about 13) asked if he wanted to dress out for the football game that night. He did and he even got to play! But yeah, I guess the point of that story was to say that even some refugees are light hearted, even if their home may have been deystroyed, so lighten up! (to no one in particular, btw.) And um... that's the end of my story!
