WOW! I had no idea this was as severe as it was. At first, I thought the video was a reenactment, but DAMN! This was VERY SERIOUS!

So scary...
He didn't act like he knew his hair was on fire. I had always heard it was a spark and they rushed to him instantly. He was dancing, unaware that his head was on fire for a few seconds. The story I had always heard was it was not as severe as the video shows.I have also heard that Michael Jackson wore wigs after that and was completely bald(I doubt hair would grow back over the area that was burned)
Did Jackson ever sue Pepsi over this?
I think you posted the wrong link.
The link is about Todd Holland
Jackson donated money from Pepsi to a local hospital for a burn center after this incident.
I too was surprised at how "on fire" he really was.
There is a theory that this accident was the beginning of the end for Jackson, and started his addiction to Rx drugs because of the pain of the burns.

Sorry about that.Fixed it. Link from my other post. Thanks for catching it.
At the time of the accident, they showed some footage on TV. But it was from the front, head on, while he continued to dance. It didn't have the same impact (at least to me, and I think others), because of all the pyrotechnics going on behind him. It wasn't as clear. It still looked serious enough, but not as bad as this. You could see the back of his head "exploding," but then everything was still going on around him.
From this rear angle view, you can really see how terrible it was. I've never seen this footage before. Only the shot from the front, which aired on the news after it happened.
Horrifying. Yeah, I'm sure he went through pain killers and plastic surgery after that. Too bad he got addicted to both.
EDIT: On a side note, I find it fascinating to watch how focused he is. He is in such a state of absolute concentration on "being in the moment" as a dancer and performer that he is unaware of what had happened.
By the way, Margaret Hamilton, who suffered horrible burns during the filming of The Wizard of Oz in 1939, was also totally unaware of what happened at the time, until the crew started jumping on her to put it out.
It's like he didn't even feel it until they rushed to him.
I got chills watching that. Freaky!
I've never seen that either. The last shot of his hand going to cover that huge burn just gave me chills.
I saw this on Today. Very interesting.
The theory that the accident was the turning point is very compelling
Well what is sad is he always felt he was unattractive (probably due to the likes of his father) so he was already insecure about his looks. To have this happen and leave him disfigured only adds to his problems with his appearances. If he began wearing wigs right after the accident then he fooled me.

I can't believe he thought he was so unattractive- he never had any trouble scoring with boys.
It's a little hard to believe that he felt the plastic surgery made him look more attractive...
I think this is a heart-breaking. There were so many jokes about this incident and if people had know how severe it was there would have been a lot more compassion. The ridicule over this was so severe. I have slightly burned a finger while cooking and it can really hurt. I can't even imagine how painful that was for him.

It had to have been horrible. Think of how painful it is when you just touch something hot.
And I love how one of the comments said something about how funny it was that he was spinning to put out the fire.
Uhm, DUH, that was his blocking...
