Virgin in Times Square R.I.P. ?

It appears Virgin Megastore in Times Square may be going under

They have many racks that are empty & pushed into a corner.. Other racks remain empty where they are. They are also running a big sale. The Virgin store in Vegas closed in January. Hope I am wrong about this but some of the telltale signs do not bode well

Hmmm...I was just up in Times Square today. If I'd known that, I may have popped in to see if there was anything of interest on sale.

It'd be too bad if they did close down. Didn't they just redo the cafe downstairs? I also liked that the movie theatre there used to have quasi-old movies for $5.50 or something, but they bumped 'em up to the regular $10+ recently, so...

Maybe if they didn't have 5 genres of ambient music playing at ear-shattering volumes at any given time, people would like browsing there more. They have a decent collection of musicals, though.

I agree. It's an awful store. You can't find anything, the staff is not helpful, and everything is generally overpriced. Try to find the Tuesday releases in the DVD section, and you want to bang your head against the wall. And it's so nice that for a store in the middle of Times Square, Broadway cast recordings are relegated to a position of such prominence...one rack hidden behind a pillar in the basement.

Ahhhhh, that was a stop sometimes when I was in the city. Maybe all the virgins are biting the dust.

aww I loved that store...last time I was in the city I got 4 cd's for $40. Not bad!! They have a great selection

wow, the Virgin in San Francisco is wonderful, as is the one in Strasbourg, France.....but the one in Frankfurt moved or closed, as it wasn't there last time I was there
