I just took a look at my SPAM folder and found a message there that said "You have just recieved a HALLMARK card". I took a look at the message and it had all the usual Hallmark doodads on it only it never said WHO was sending the card. Of course there was a link I was supposed to click on to get the card. This is exactly how computer viruses and worms get downloaded to your hard disk. NEVER click on one of these links if you suspect it in any way.

(In this case there were actually 2 clues. 1. The sender wasn't identified, and 2. I suspect the real Hallmark company knows how to spell 'received'.)

When in doubt, I also always look carefully at the return address. I keep on getting this email that says my paypal account has security breach yadda yadda yadda, but the return email is NOT @paypal.com.

also, hi-lighting (BUT NOT CLICKING) on a link is a dead giveaway.....as it is often fake....

rule of thumb, if you don't know the person who sent it...DO NOT open it....

That's why Hallmark has changed their e-card policy to include the full name of the person sending the card. If you don't recognize the name, don't open the card!

If you get an email or bulletin from someone saying that found a video of you, don't click on the video's link.

It's actually a nasty trojan almost as vicious as a Prop 8 supporter or Madonna hater.

Very hard to get rid of.

Interesting about the video thing. Someone on my facebook buddy list spammed a bunch of us with web addresses for where pictures of us were. Obviously I investigated it first. But, I figured it was spam since it happened to multiple people, and the websites were all different. Oh yeah, and words were misspelled too.

The one I got looked legit and was from a person who very well could have had an incriminating video of me! lol I was totally fooled. It wasn't until I got to the page that I realized it was spam. And that sucker just downloaded itself and made itself at home.

Jerby I got that from you earlier today and I was wondering. I was like "i can't remember him ever taking any videos when we went out..." Luckily, I saw the email on my phone and by the time I got back to my house a few hours later, you'd posted the myspace and facebook warnings.

Hope you got rid of it!!! That always sucks!
