The top 3 winners will be announced in March. I'm so sad to see this show go.
I voted for the Season Five finale which, IMO, was one of the best W&G episodes ever. It was a tough call, though...

That's hysterical! And so necessary!!
Any answers that are serious, non-failing attempts at being funny?

Posted: 2/4/06 at 3:14pmI gave you my honest answer. And, may I point out, I was the only one to reply to your question in the 18 hours after it was posted. Your thread jumped the shark faster than Will and Grace did.

Posted: 2/4/06 at 3:20pmThat's funny, E., because that exact moment when the water bra sprung a leak I said to myself, "That's it for this show. The shark hath jumped."

I guess I didn't expect it.......and I can relate cause if I were a woman, I probably would have been stupid enough to try it.......
I just got tired of the same jokes, actions, "overt gayness" of the show, and Karens character rejoicing in here alcoholism.....

Posted: 2/4/06 at 3:25pmIt was the gay horse episode for me when I admitted defeat. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the episodes before that.

I would say the appearance of Woody Harrelson onward (or should I say downward) was the beginning of the end (with occasional high points following). It hit bottom when Harry Connick Jr. became a recurring guest, but even now that he's gone, the show has yet to regain its original charm. All the characters have become caricatures of themselves (which is really saying something since there wasn't much depth to begin with).
Still, the earlier episodes were funny, and their first few guest stars were great. Minnie Driver dropping diamonds out of her "English muffin" and Matt Damon as the fake-gay choir member are some of my favorite moments/episodes. And "Shut up, Patti Lupone" was classic.

Posted: 2/4/06 at 3:38pmThere was a GAY HORSE episode? Oh dear. Things got worse than I could have imagined. Did the horse find work on Brokeback Mountain, at least?

Posted: 2/4/06 at 3:42pmFor me the show stopped being funny when Karen got remarried and J. Lo showed up at the wedding. Other than one or two episodes, the show has lost it.

Posted: 2/4/06 at 3:44pmYes, yes there was. I don't know the outcome of the episode as I switched it off when they got to revealing the horse was a mo. As for the horse's future on Brokeback Mountain, well you have to understand the horse wasn't ACTUALLY gay. Simply pretending.

I'm right with you Tiff on the Woody Harrelson/Harry Connick Jr. thing. I did enjoy the first few seasons, but I got kind of bored with the show when Woody joined the cast, and after about 2 episodes with HCJr, I called it quits. The only episode I've seen since was the 2nd live show, and it was so embarassingly unfunny, I'm still unsure why I watched the whole episode. I think that's the case with a lot of sitcoms that have a lengthy run like this though. I never watched Friends, but the idea of them still clinging on to similar storylines/rehashing the same jokes 10 years in, when the actors are in their early 40s...it's just not funny anymore.
BUT, with that being said, I did really enjoy the first few seasons of Will and Grace, and made a point to watch it every week. As a fellow flat-chester, I did enjoy the burst falsie episode.

It got worse. So did Janet.
You're right, Mab. I think W&G is reliving Friends' fate. Good early episodes that died once the show started to take itself more seriously and put the characters into long term relationships. (Did anyone REALLY want Ross and Rachel to get together?)

I can't believe poeple think FRIENDS went downhill when they started getting into serious relationships and getting married. Did we really want a show about people in their mid 30's who were all single?
By the end of the show, Joey was the only single one left. They gave him his own show. Look how that turned out. Single, committment-phobic Joey at 25 is funny. Single, committment-phobic Joey pushing 40 is just pathetic.

(Sean Hayes): How come I've never seen you out?
(Matt Damon): Because I'm in a long-term relationship with my high shool boyfriend.
(Sean): What's his name?
(Matt): Ben.

I disagree, Jon. It's not that being in relationships made the show unfunny (Monica and Chandler's storylines were humorous) - the writing just got poorer; the difference between Ross and Rachel/Grace and Leo vs. Monica and Chandler is the former two had so many problems and drama that were were played seriously (cheating, divorce, etc.) with no comic effect, and we'd established no personal depth for these characters so who cared whether things worked out for them?;
On the other hand, Monica and Chandler's relationship played up the neurosis and comedy and didn't rely on a dramatic element to move the storyline. And it worked out better.
