Posted: 12/13/05 at 9:11pmDoes anyone know when the Wide release for brokeback is? I live in Wisconsin the 9th didn't really work for me. I must be stupid or something for not being able to find it.....
I always try to save a couple of the marshmallows till the very end but I never make it. I always end up with a bunch of flake things and pink milk...my mind wanders. - Garden State

It's spreading and opening wide this Friday, 12/16.

It opens in Dallas this Friday in only two theatres.
My friends and I already have our tickets!

Dec 9, 2005: NY/LA/SF
Dec 16, 2005: expands to 21 large cities & 3 small ones
Jan 2006: expands wide
Feb 2006: final expansion

I'm in Wisconsin, too!
I fear I won't get to see BBM because my city is about 22,000 people. I'll probably have to wait for the dvd.
It says on the brokeback page on myspace that the movie goes nationwide the 16th.

Shiksa - unfortunately, 'going nationwide' could only mean opening in more than NYC and LA. Keep your eye out, and hopefully it will open near you . . . eventually.
On a certain level, it's probably smart of them to do a creeping open such as this - let the word of mouth generate the buzz. It certainly worked for MY BIG, FAT GREEK WEDDING!

Yeah, that's true DG. I really hope it comes my way. This is what I am most excited about movie-wise this year.

Updated Release Dates
For those who have not seen it yet, do no fret!!
The release information has been updated. On Dec. 16th, the film expands further, but the widest release is now set for January 6th. Remember, with a film like Brokeback Mountain, patience is a virtue!! By tomorrow, Wednesday, you should be able to check on MovieTickets.com and by then, they will definately have the Friday showtimes listed for your local theatre. Call your local theatres--they will have a better idea than I of if and when they will be showing Brokeback Mountain. Some of you in smaller cities, regretfully, will not get this movie. With the winter vacation upon us, I encourage you to gather you closest friends and head to the nearest metropolitan area to see this groundbreaking film--can anyone say road trip!!
