oh what a little spoiled brat......this is what I donate to the Olymics for?; spoiled brats who miss buses??? I mean you ARE there for the Olympics.....sheesh
I wonder if he was busy with another sausage.......
TURIN (Reuters) - U.S. figure skater Johnny Weir, who crashed out of the medals in the men's competition at the Olympics on Thursday, said he was late getting to the rink because bus schedules had been changed, leaving him no time to squeeze into his "sausage suit".
"I missed the bus because they changed the schedule and I was late getting here," the angry and frustrated skater told reporters. "I never felt comfortable ... I wasn't feeling 100 percent ready."

At least he takes responsibility for it (somewhat), unlike Emmanuel Sandhu who just blamed the COA for not putting him on the Olympic team in 1998...again. Dude needs to get OVER IT.
Is it just me or are a large number of the American athlete coming across as spoiled, entitled adn obnoxious? I feel pretty bad when I'm watching a competition and hoping the American doesn't win.
Our ice skaters act like prissy diva's, our skiers come across as drunken frat boys and the snowboarders seem like skater punks who just stepped in off the street. Few of them show any sense of sportsmanship

I think we should change our national slogan from "In God We Trust" to "spoiled, entitled and obnoxious". It sure sums up America's attitude toward the world lately.
On topis, this queen is obviously extremely high maintenance.
I have to disagree Orion...I thought Weir was the only one who came across as prissy. The real story for me last night was Evan Lysacek who came back to skate a perfect long program after his disasterous short program on Tuesday. To me, his was the performance of the night. Of course he gets no where near the press of Weir.
And did anyone else find the snowboarding cross insanely exciting. And from what I've seen the winner of that event, American Seth Wescott is an all around nice guy.
Aside from Tonya "trailer trash" Harding (for whom I will always have a soft spot in my heart), don't those who have the luxury of having enough time and money to have groomed for an Olympic sport from an early age tend to be from the entitled class? My guess is that not a one of them have ever had to toil in Wendy's drive-up window after school to pay for skates. Or lift tickets. Or whatever.
No sympathy for Weir here; just disgust.
i think we should disband our olympic team entirely and spend that money on programs for the underprivileged. that would send a message to the world!
Are you making fun of me? Sometimes I just can't tell...
me? make fun of you?

Weir - wasn't that the same queen who was complaining about the accomodations as well? Puh-leeze!
I personally thought Evan Lysacek was just wonderful to watch. What a beautiful program, gorgeous choreography, and he seemed to be glowing afterward.
ETA: Also, loved the snowboard cross! So fun to watch.

This is his signature on his web-site. It made me laugh.
I love him. I don't care if he's spoiled.
He's SO gay and SO inapproriate. Pure entertainment.
"To me, his was the performance of the night. Of course he gets no where near the press of Weir."
I think that is the point...Weir is an attention hog first and skater second. I love the way he skates, and have no problem with him being opinionated, but his excuses and bad sportsmanship are getting to be too much for me. I also think that Matt Savoie was underscored and ALSO deserves high praise here, not just Lysacek (who was great.)
I agree about Matt S....I just forgot his name.
I hope Weir matures emotionally and takes hold of his enormous talent. He should not make waste his natural gifts and hard work.
Lambiel stole my heart.
His expression at just the site of his country's flag was the art of the evening.
Peach-I have to echo you-PUH LEASE! Weird whines again. Grow up toddler, and take responsibility for your actions. you sucked, that's all. At least he didn't sit there sobbing into his hands like last time.
Now, say what you will about my Plushy, but we all know he didn't come from a privileged family. there's a success story for yiz! I love and adore him but now I have to find a new hero on the ice! It might be Shawn Sawyer...
Shawn's sweetness and beautiful skating - inspiring.
Apparently, there's some animosity between Rudy Galindo and him. Rudy claims that Johnny has been copying him. Do you agree?

Oh God!
I've never looked at Johnny and thought of Galindo.
I couldn't stand Galindo's skating.
He was like The Village People on Ice.
Johnny may be fem on the ice but he is not tacky!

Don't get me wrong, I think Weir is a talented skater. But I have a much easier time admiring an artist/athlete who is more humble. Regardless of technical ability, I much more enjoy watching the ones with the "nice" personalities. Like Ms. Michelle Kwan. Graceful on the ice AND off.
Matt Savoie was indeed wonderful as well.
"He's SO gay and SO inapproriate. Pure entertainment."
I can't even begin to list the things that are SO wrong with this statement.
"I think that is the point...Weir is an attention hog first and skater second."
For me, that is the point. It's not just Weir and his fussy, diva attitude. It seems that many of the American athletes are trying to surround themselves with controversy. Making statements for shock value seems to be the way they intend to stand out and get publicity. Meanwhile, those athletes, like Lysacek, who are representing our country with pride and dignity, are pushed into the background. The media wants to catch the next shocking statement or outrageous act.
