re: Welcome, Anthony Rapp! (part three)

My roommate made a big brownie in the shape of a heart for her boyfriend, and is giving me some of the edges. *happy dance*
"`I grow old... I grow old... I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.` What does that mean, Mr. Marlowe?" "Not a bloody thing. It just sounds good." He smiled. "That is from the `Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.` Here's another one. `In the room women come and go/Talking of Michael Angelo.' Does that suggest anything to you, sir?" "Yeah -- it suggests to me that the guy didn't know very much about women." "My sentiments exactly, sir. Nonetheless I admire T. S. Eliot very much." Prolly coz A-Rapp sounds too much like a rapper, like Jay-Z or Run-DMC or something.

It's just too...something. I don't know. I can't put my finger on it. But I really, really don't want A-Rapp to catch on. There's something incredibly annoying about it to me.

No offense.

But if he likes it, hey...whatever tickles his pickle. I still won't use it, but I doubt that would hurt his feelings too muchre: Welcome, Anthony Rapp! (part three)

re: Welcome, Anthony Rapp! (part three)

It's just weird to me to refer/call Anthony by a nickname. It's just...we don't really know him, we're not *friends* with him. I haven't even met him. So any nickname, to me, seems a bit invasive.

That's just my 2 cents.

My aunt nicknamed me Allie Ballie (uh, pronounced the same way as Allie, not the round thing you throw, obviously). Or Allie Ballie Boop Boop. I haaaated it.

Exactly. Until he announces he wants to be called by a nickname, like P. Diddy, or Diddy, or whatever he calls himself.

re: Welcome, Anthony Rapp! (part three)

haha nicknames are cool though, my mom calls me Mimi since my brother called me that when he was little and couldn't pronounce my name. Tonio is cute, but not something I would call him..that would be really weird.

A-Rapp makes me think of the irritating and belittling way some people pronounce Arab.

I keep missing so much. I completely forget what else I was going to put... Oh, I remember, I enjoy Anthony as Anthony... not any crazy nicknames... yes... that was it... or close to.

One of my friends called me Manly Stanly the other day, and then I think I heard someone call me a queer. It was funny.
