I also dont agree that straight people should not be allowed to work in gay bars. I have a straight friend who works in a gay bar here in the UK, he loves it and gets great tips, he's 21 and totally gay friendly, I love that about him. Gays can't have parades and rally's asking to be accepted then segregate themselves away banning straights to work in their establishments......it's absurd.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

But if those same people turn around and complain that they feel uncomfortable, then it's their own fault.
They could get a job in ANY bar. Why do they pick gay bars?

And I think what Dame said, "straights have no business bar-tending in a gay bar" is very different from "straights should not be allowed to work in gay bars"
I have no business doing some of the things I do. But no one's trying to stop me...in most cases.

Damn, Mickey's has always been one of our regular Sunday eve drinking spots, but we've never happened on any of the attractions mentioned in the suit. We've never even seen hardcore porno on the screens. This clearly calls for more in-depth research on our part.

Diva, you are 100% correct. If these guys are going to be uncomfortable in a gay bar, why take the job in the first place? You should probably have an idea whether it would be a job you would be comfortable with before you even apply for the job.

God, I dated a Mickey's bartender once. And I use the word "dated" loosely. A long while ago (in a galaxy far, far away).
Rule #1 when you're out on the town bar-hopping and clubbing: don't date the help.

OMG. I dated a Micky's bartendender once myself. And one from the old Revolver. Maybe we slept with the same person? Is that why we have a bond?

LOL
I think you've got it, Dame!
I actually met my partner at Revolver. We've been together 17 years now.
It would be funny if we actually knew each other from those days. But didn't know we knew each other. You know?

Well, 17 years ago I was heavily hanging out in Revolver. Usually Monday nights and Friday nights.. I stopped when that Karaoke thing started on Mondays. I found the host insufferable. Even thoug I have met him since and he is a nice guy ( for a actor wannabe-hasbeen, and I say that with love)
Did you go during the Diva days?

I went once, met Diva, and won a prize for something. Diva was Dorothy that night. Wonderful host, wonderful costume. I didn't meet him until many years later.
As for Friday nights at Revolver, I was definitely a regular. Friday or Saturday. I usually started out at Oil Can Harry's, then the Creepy Teepee (Apache), then Micky's, then Revolver, and maybe one or two others. How the hell did I do that?!?
I was young, I worked out all the time, and I didn't drink or smoke. But I was out ALL the time.

Oh Oil Cans. I think someone should make a movie of the week out of that place. There are many stories there. I met my ex there. I also dated one of the bar backs . He just got married to his husband there. I kid you not. The wedding was at Oil Cans.

I lived only a few blocks from Oil Cans, so I was there all the time (in my single days). Usually more than once a week. Wonderful memories. It was a blast back then!

It is STILL in my neighborhood. Did you ever go to Apaches? We would walk back and forth between the two. Used to go there mostly for Tuesday 50 cent drink night.

Definitely! I mentioned it above ... the "Creepy Teepee." That's what we called Apache. Great memories there, too.
Dame we were both Studio City dwellers! I moved back to Hollywood a couple of years after I got together with my partner.

Oh, and if I was feeling really "ornery," I would go to Rage or the Sunday beer bust at Mother Load.

I would end my weekends at Motherload's Sunday beer bust. Many is the time I would end up on top of the pool table. I miss being young.

Well, considering I'm in black-and-white now, living in the Midwest with Miss Gulch and the farmhands, it may be a while before we get to that drink.
But I'd love it whenever I make it back to the west coast (I'm LONG overdue). Pencil me in for sometime between now and 2015! I will definitely let you know when I make it out there again.

Was it the night I did 'Over The Rainbow' and switched to Patti Labelles version and ripped the head off off Toto? I tossed the head into the audience and never saw it again!
Good times, good times....
