LONDON - The lost and distressed whale stranded in the River Thames died Saturday as rescue workers attempted to ferry it out to sea for release, an animal rights group said.
The 20-foot-long Northern bottlenose whale had been lifted onto a barge by rescuers and was being taken downriver toward the North Sea when it suffered convulsions and died, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said.
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story...

Posted: 1/21/06 at 3:07pmOh, that stinks. It's quite likely the whale was unhealthy in the first place, wandering off like that, but it's too bad rescue efforts didn't work.

Posted: 1/21/06 at 3:08pmwell, and there was no food in the Thames. Apparently they eat squid, which of course don't live in the Thames....and it's freshwater which they are not used to.

This is really weird,
But when I first looked at the title, I thought I was reading the beggining of a book or poem . . .
"While stranded in the River Thhames . . ."
I had to do a double take and realize what it said.
I hope the animal did not suffer. That is just too bad.
