Has anyone seen this movie? I just saw it for the first time and loved it. It is such a rich film both visually and emotionally. Does anyone else like it? I love the idea of why people go to hell in this movie. That it is a personal choice more than anything.

Please don't ever mention this movie again. I don't think I've ever seen a more depressing film. I started sobbing 5 minutes into it and didn't stop for the next two hours. I think I slept for 4 days after it was over.

I hated this movie. The parts dealing with suicide really disturbed me. People shouldn't declare things that they obviously have no idea about.

It was a good movie, but SEVERLY depressing. But, Robin Williams did a great job in this film.

A great film - and written by the same guy that wrote Bid Time Return (which was turned into "Somewhere in Time")

Son - You should read the book on which WDMC was adapted from. It's different (no surprise) and probably even more intriguing/intense. They made some interesting changes when adapting the screenplay that work on film - but there are devices and plot elements in the book which are for more powerful.

All I really remember about this film was how visually stunning I thought it was.

Yes, I remember the same thing, DGrant. That and how sad it was.

It was way too new-age for me (some of the dialogue seemed to be directly lifted from a new-age spirituality book), but the visuals were stunning.

I didn't buy how Robin William's character and his wife were supposed to be true love: has there ever been a colder couple on film? A serious lack of chemistry there.

AHHH I LOVE this movie!! It is EXACTLY what I believe in, since i'm a very new-agey person when it comes to religious stuff. It reinforced my ideas of Heaven and Hell, and this was just SUCH a beautiful movie. I actually didn't find it depressing at all!! Well ok, the deaths were, but the ending is SO beautiful and hopeful, it doesn't leavre you feeling bad. I love the idea of going to hell and back for love ::sigh::: It is THE perfect movie, IMHO. Everyone should watch it!!!

The deaths were depressing but so was every scene in that film. Seriously, it's one of the better films of the late 90s but also one of the most upsetting of ALL time.

I liked this movie a lot. yes, it was depressing, but I found it to be an interesting ... how do I say... alternative belief? I dunno... great film.

I didn't find it depressing....actually (and maybe because I have a taste for black comedy), I found the last scene rather funny, with the entire family happily together in the afterlife, after being so miserable while alive.

The last scene was with them as children. And I love black comedy also, but there was none of that in this film.

Sorry, I meant the second-last scene, before they get re-incarnated -- the family is walking through the fields of Heaven. It's not intentionally black comedy, I just loved the irony of it.

My friend has the DVD, and he tells me there exists an alternate ending...anyone see it?

I thought this movie was well done. It was indeed rather depressing but good nonetheless. Robin Williams did a very good job in this flick. I'd like to see it again since it's been a while since I've seen it.

I don't think I have ever cried so much in a theatre. But I still loved it.

I loved the film, especially its visual aspects, but was let-down by some of the changes from the novel (especially with the children). The novel is an absolute revelation. I loaned it to a friend of mine and it completely changed his life. When you look at the amount of research the author put into it, it's mind-boggling. I really need to pick that one up again. Both the film and the book.

Mister Matt, I agree. The sequence in the book regarding the handwriting is intense...

Very moving film. It was able to encompass so many different concepts. I loved when the guide (Cuba Gooding Jr) and Robin Williams are looking at a beautiful city in the distance. The guide says that those who live there have a shared vision. That really touched me because it reminded me of the concept of Zion in the standard works we use in the LDS Church.

Craig--I love Somewhere In Time. It is one of my favorite movies. I can watch it over and over and never get bored of it. I have only watched What Dreams May Come once because I was SO depressed afterwards but it was a great movie. I may have to pick it up again soon.

Yeah. I did a musical of this. I wrote fifteen songs for it. It opened two days before September 11, 2001. Say no more re: What Dreams May Come

I got really seasick from watching this movie. THere was so much visually going on on the screen that it really upset my stomach.

I remember liking the movie and how the idea was quite romantic.

It's worth a shot/ :) www.freephotoiPods.com/?r=15009978
