What Was the Precise Moment...

...you knew George Bush would be a failure as a president? This is a fun game!

Mine was way back when he said "misunderestimate."

But his cowardly, uncomforting and un-inspirational behavior immediately after 9/11 clinched it for me for good.

What was your defining moment for realizing George W. Bush was a failure as a president?

When the number of anti-Bush threads began rivaling the number of WICKED threads.

Still? I never thought he was. Doesn't mean I want to see 40 threads a day about him on a Broadway message board, off-topic or not.

chita, you must have posted while I was posting.

Of course I didn't VOTE for him. Jesus Christ, people. I just am tired of the constant threads on THIS board.

The very first time he ever opened his mouth and spoke. My lord the man went to Yale, you would have thought, he at some point in those four years, would have picked up English.
Also why does this man slouch? That drives me batty!!

Pay no attention to where he went to school. Of course his daddy paid some crazy amount to get him in.

If you don't like these threads, then please go on to one of the Wicked threads and complain about too many Bush/Rove threads THERE!
Meanwhile, we're just having good clean progressive FUN.

Let's get back to what was the precise moment you realized George Bush was a FAILURE?

re: What Was the Precise Moment...

I'm *always* happy to see a political thread. The Bush presidency is so baffling and painful that it would be too easy to fall into the habit of ignoring things until it's over in 2008. I've subconsciously done that, and while I don't read all of the threads, the fact that they are consistently there nudges me back to reality. I believe that a couple of posters here are making a deliberate attempt to keep Bush and current events in our consciousness. For me, it has been very helpful and I appreciate it.

And to answer the original question...when he used the word "crusade" on 9/11 (Way to add fuel to the fire, George!...), it confirmed that he was clueless. He has no sense of historical perspecitive or cultural awareness. And 9/11 might have been one of the first times we got a glimpse of him trying to handle something that wasn't scripted for him.

re: What Was the Precise Moment...

Honestly? I knew when he was running in 2000 that he was a joke. I couldn't believe he was a serious candidate. I couldn't believe that half the country could actually vote for such an imbecile.

Then, like most Americans, I stood behind him on 9/11 and was with him through the beginning of the Iraq War*. Then, it started becoming clear that something wasn't right about the war. And, then Dean put into words the doubt I was starting to feel.

Then, when Bush spoke out against gays and lesbians with his marriage tirade, I instantly lost whatever respect I had possibly had for him.

The man was able to overcome a very divided country when 9/11 happened and then went and ****ed it up--dividing them all over again. THAT is an idiot. He had the world behind him and he BLEW IT.

*And let me stress--I never adored him, but I had put my 2000 election gripes aside.
