What all BATMAN fans have been waiting for! ALL 4 FILMS IN DVD SET!!!!!!!!

From DarkHorizons:

Batman on Film recently got contacted by a source who has some more info on the upcoming special edition DVDs of the first four "Batman" films. Amongst the facts gleaned:

- The first two films are finished. Tim Burton re-recorded his commentary tracks with a "guest." Disc One of both will include remastered pictures and sound with commentary. Disc 2 has trailers, TV Spots, vintage footage and a new featurette on the film. The first film also gets a feature length documentary.

- Joel recorded commentary tracks for the theatrical edition of "Batman Forever" along with "Batman & Robin". Afterwards Joel decided to ask WB to recut "Forever" back to something that resembles his original edit. WB agreed and gave him a budget to do so. Joel is currently in Burbank working on some alterations to the film.

- It's expected the original version will be there with the new cut to be done with 'seamless branching' technology. The extended cut is expected to run around 2 hrs 35 mins. Schumacher is going to add as much footage as possible back in. Also some of the effects were not finished in the early workprint and they need to be finished and he has been given a small budget to work with for that, all new effects will be digital.

Current title is going to be '10th Anniversary Extended Director's Cut'.

Now a lot of people are mixed on the films. Some like the first two and hated the second half. Myself, I liked the first one, loved the second!, thought the third was the BEST, and was absolutely disappointed in the fourth!

I am skeptical on BATMAN BEGINS - but I'll see it. Never saw CATWOMAN - and never will.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

The first two had a nice classic Gotham city feeling to it. Spooky, mysterious, cold, and shadowy.

The second two were contemporary Gotham - flashy, busy, bright, and loud.

The first two were easily the best of the series. I was a fan of the 3rd one when it first came out but now it doens't hold as much as it once did for me. I feel that the 3rd and 4th have a tendancy to go towards the camp of the 60's series but neither are successful in capturing the feeling of "it's so bad it's good." They became "Ugh it's so bad I want it to go away"

I have a feeling BEGINS is going to be the definitive Batman film and should capture the Noir style of the comics and graphic novels better than even the Burton ones did. However BB has to be better than the Shumacher pieces of sh!t.

Batman Forever is underrated. I thought it was VERY good (except for the whole Nicole Kidman love interest thing). Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones were exceptionally good. Don't care for Chris O'Donnell or Val Kilmer, but they did tolerable.

But the entire production was very well done, I thought. One of my favorite scenes was Jim Carrey pre-Riddler in his apartment.

They ruined Two-Face. He's easily Batman's most interesting villain and any moron could have played into the similarity between he and Batman. What did they do? Give him one semi-incomprehensible speech at the beginning of the movie and then make him a thug the rest of the time.

In terms of misused potential, 'Batman Forever' is the worst of the lot. 'Batman and Robin' never had a chance but 'Forever' COULD have been spectacular.

Not familar with that - but I did like that entrance.

I HATED what they did to Mr. Freeze! I didn't pity him at all - he was just weakly evil. HATED it. And then Clooney tried to feel sorry for him. Wow - everything was just awful about this film.

True with Two-Face, but I think it was tolerable. Could have been better - but it is what it is.
