What are some great playwrights in the history of drama?

I would like to know about the playwrights that are originals and have maybe introduced a theory or style. Can you please elaborate on their impact on drama?
I have so far gathered the following (some of them are biased according to my preference):
Aeschylus
Sophocles
Kalidasa
William Shakespeare
Anton Chekhov
Henrik Ibsen
George Bernard Shaw
Tennessee Williams
Arthur Miller

Eugene Ionesco

You should really do your own research for your paper.

Asking for names is one thing, asking others to give you their info is another. (Your list is pretty good, however.)

I might add Sam Shepard (sp.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Thanks. I am actually not writing any paper, but I asked in order to check out the playwrights to expand my horizons as an actor. This is for my own enrichment. I wanted to get others' opinions and evaluations.
