I don't really care if you care.
It is my opinion. Was it wrong of me to suggest that DJ seek professional help instead of trying to solve his problems on a message board?
Was it wrong of me to object to talk graphic about Blow Jobs and penis size between adults and under-aged teenagers?
Was it wrong of me to suggest that supportivemom might want to keep a close eye on her young son so that he doesn't get into a situation at his school that could affect him the rest of his life?
If you think any of these things were wrong, or that I came off as judgemental, so be it.
Oh yes, and since you are NOT Equity, the deputy has no obiligation to you at all. The rules do not apply to you. Sad, but true. But I am sure the producers and director would be happy to hear that you are so put out. 70 people is a lot to deal with. Stuff happens that require schedules to be changed. In fact if you are called ALL NIGHT and never used, yes, it might be inconsiderate, but get used to it. It happens all the time. And again, if you are not Equity, you can't really complain that they are not following the rules.

Actually, they said at the first rehearsal that we are all being treated as if we're Equity. We get all the same breaks and such. I know they have no obligation, but they have stepped up and made a point of saying it. I'm done with this conversation, I've given you way too much already.
And I'm not going to answer your defensive questions. Just know that you are perceived in a certain way here, and it's your own doing. You seem fine with it, so more power to you.
But, it's hard for people to give credence to someone whose main objective here has been to mock and/or criticize, when they aren't giving us any info about themselves to prove that we should listen to their "expertise". There's nothing behind it.

Just remember, there comes a time in the life of an adult when their friends grow tired of lending them money, or letting them crash on their couch until "I can get on my feet", or have to keep coming to see you in awful productions and lie to you about how great you are.
It is okay when you are young and just starting out. Not so pretty when you are 40+. To say you are happy you didn't get a paying job so you can audition more? Yea, good luck.
And really Rath, throwing that old "no body likes you cuz you are such a bitch" line is pretty immature, don't you think?
I mean, if you want to see some PMs...
Whatever, I am done with this conversation, too.

I haven't crashed on someone's couch since - oh, never. I love how you continue to bring up that loan as if I'm the only person to ever borrow money from a friend, and also as if it's not ancient history. I don't know why you're so desperate. It's sad, but I don't even feel bad for you anymore - just indifferent.
And if people are lying by telling me I'm good, so be it. At least some of those "liars" are casting me.
The line about the job? You just (once again) put words in my posts that aren't there. But I am not going to waste any more energy explaining my life to you as if I care what you think. It's become obvious that you make up whatever you want and twist it to fit your idea of me. Seems like a waste of energy as we're nothing to each other but posters on a message board, eh?
Good night.

I did not get the job I was up for a few weeks ago, they sent me a lovely note. But, I think it's the right thing. I would have had to give up a lot for it... I'm really not that upset - I could have used the steady paycheck, and it might have been a fun gig, but I would have had to give up auditioning, and I don't want to put that on hold at the place I'm at now.
Just had to check to make sure I wasn't crazy. This IS what you wrote, isn't it?
Okay, now I'm done.

I love that Sue said that. This from the same poster who posted on a "how do you know you're gay" thread the following:
"I know b/c my dick tastes like ass". A thread that was read by many teens and underagers.
But that's ok Sue, I still love the fact that you think you're so righteous.

Sue, obviously from my post I would have taken the job. But I knew if I didn't get it, there would be a reason. And if I did get it, there would be a reason for that too.
I don't know why you care so much that you have to dissect every word I post. Really. Just take them for what they are and move on with your own life.

Boy, you got me there Taz. Yes, I admit that may have been a bit inappropriate, however, it was a JOKE. And I do think there is a difference between an obvious joke about some sexual act and actually DISCUSSING that sexual act with a minor. You might think they are the same, but I think most reasonable people can make that distinction. But again, it is only my opinion.
I am probably wrong. About everything.

No matter how you spin it, it's a double standard cowboy.
You have 0 credibility to criticize anyone on that score b/c you house is as glass as they come.
Anyway, I though you said you were done.
Rath, check your PMs.

actors and other artists have to make lots of difficult choices in life when struggling. secure jobs vs flexible jobs is but one headache we deal with. there's no right answer--only which has obstacles I can deal with right now.
to place criticism on someone because of their age is revolting. some people (esp character types) don't get a break or a successful career rolling until later in life.
there are plenty of 30 and 40 somethings on this board who are still fighting that fight.
it's their choice and a brave one. at any age.

Actually, Sue, that post was total over the line and completely uncalled for.
How you went from 'My son has been asked to shave his head' to 'His teacher may have ulterior motives' was beyond me.

I'm just...loving it all.
Best thread of the week. Sorry, PalJoey, your picks pale in comparison.
You know, taz, for someone who likes to use obscenities in his post perhaps you are also not the best barometer of what's acceptable to post on an open message board. Please, actually do think of the children.
Sueleen is not so anonymous to many on this board. It may surprise many that some people have been friends since the board's inception. Many on this board have close connections within the industry, but don't flaunt them and don't use them to further themselves. Some friendships even predate the board. Many friendships aren't necessarily advertised. They've also stood the test of some time and aren't cycled through every 9 months or so. They are in the real world, in real time, and often in person. There's no dependency and exist without ulterior motives. To me, the sign of a true friendship. There's never a concern about what this person could do for me, who they know, who they might know.
And I have to tell you, Diva and others, that Sueleen's cautionary warning may not have been so out of line. I have posted in the past about inherent dangers of providing too much personal information, especially when it concerns juvenile children. In less than half an hour using information posted on this board, and utilizing free web sites open to the public, I can tell you where and when this production of THE CHAIRS is taking place. Isn't that a tad scary? It should be!
Too much information posted, just like when last year a certain poster told me that I didn't know what I was talking about and had no idea what some other poster did for a living. Once again based solely using information provided on this board, I not only knew this other person's full name, but their organization and job title, their date of birth, their husband's name and date of birth, their children's names (and nicknames) and dates of birth, their address, and even who solely holds the mortgage on the poster's home. But I do have to thank that original poster and their link to a certain Ebay auction for starting me on my quest. Ring any bells with anyone in this thread? All of it was a simple exercise, a diversion, something other than BWW to check while I was working. And again, information freely available to the public and all obtained in less than 30 minutes if you know where to look.
See, I've gotten commendations for my tenacity. Thank goodness I use my abilities for good and not evil. But how many people are out there lurking and you don't know their intent?
And reminding once again because some here just don't seem to get it, the theater world is such a small community. Wonder how many of the other 69 performers at this, yet again another faith-based venue that Theatermania states is off-off-B'way, might find the grumbling of a poster to be inappropriate and forward the comments along to their director?
I'm just loving it all.

I'm not the one who takes others to task for it. I never claimed nor want to be anyone's barometer.

My goodness, etoile, what a creepy post. Are you actually proud of the fact that that's what you do at work - or anytime, for that matter?
And if you're implying that I use my friends within the industry to further my career, well, all you have to do is look at my career to prove that's not true.
By the way, if a show is eligible and in contention for an Obie, it's off-Broadway, no matter what Theatermania says.

The words may be similar, but obviously, the intent was very different.

Actually, not true. I don't care one way or the other. But, this is how misinformation is spread, and why people are constantly confused about what's true and what's not.
This is from the OBIE website:
"For more than half a century, The Village Voice Obie Awards have honored the best of Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway..."
"...The Obies are awarded with the conviction that creativity is not a competition. As such, there are no nominations. Those interested in having their work considered by the Obie Judges should send invitations and press materials to OBIE AWARDS c/o The Village Voice Obie Awards, 36 Cooper Square, New York, NY 10003"

Okay, I didn't realize that, JAG, that's interesting info, thank you. But this is off-Broadway. I don't know why I have to keep defending that. Other theater sites list it as such, and we have been told as such. Anyway, if you want to believe it, fine. Some here seem to always be desperately searching for a reason to discredit me, despite the fact that I don't have a history of throwing out lies around here. I've never had a problem saying I'm in an off-off Broadway show when I have been in them. I just know what I'm told by the production I'm in.
I think what you don't all get, as much as I've tried to be clear, is that I'm grateful for any performing jobs I get. This is NYC and the competition for all of them is pretty fierce for someone my age just starting out. I don't lie about them, because I have no reason to.
Have a great day. I'm off to tech whatever the hell this is.

Uhm, it wasn't about posting personal information on the web. It was about how Sue went from one subject (My son just got cast in his school show) to 'Watch out! The teacher may molest him. It was uncalled for.
