As some of you know, Lent begins one week from tomorrow on March 1. Have you given any thought to what you will give up?
My pastor suggested that I give up Tivo. I suggested to her that God does not want me to suffer that much during this penitential season.
I considered giving up alcohol. However, I start rehearsals for ANGELS IN AMERICA in the middle of Lent, so I know that discipline will last until day one of rehearsals.
The other option is giving up the Internet for everything except e-mail and work purposes, but I think that will just make me drink more.
I think this year..I'm giving up Lent.

Everytime Lent rolls around I tell my mom I want to give up the pursuit of knowledge (ie: School)... she doesn't find it funny.
I may give up pop. But I don't like the giving something up. I would rather do something extra that does something for others. I don't know what though.
Yeah. Nothing. We only give up red meat on Fridays.

I think I'm giving up skipping class. I just don't feel bad about missing classes these days, so I figure this should give me the motivation I don't have and really need.
I'm giving up headcheese sandwiches.

I'm giving up being nice to Liam.
caitiesus1522, I usually try to do that as well, and it is something my church encourages.
touchme, thanks for that link! It has some good ideas, so I forwarded it to our worship team!
For the 21st consecutive year, I will be giving up lent as well.
I was going to give up sex but then I realized that my streak of inadvertant celibacy has been going on for so long that if the opportunity comes up there's no way my a$$ is turning it down.
Then again, if the opportunity never comes up, you can always claim after the fact that you gave up sex for Lent. Just to make yourself feel better
every year i say i'm going to give up something, but i never do... maybe i'll try to come up with something this year
Exactly. And since I'm a recovering Catholic and not a practicing one, the guilt will be minimal.
I think i'll give up skipping classes too.. we'll see how long that'll last.

Dollypop- Have you been counting down the days til Lent?
One year I gave up pop. Then I realized I'm not catholic and no one really cares if a baptist gives anything up.
Whoa, that link was way too religious for me. More power to those who do that stuff though.
