Posted: 9/21/05 at 9:01pmIt's okay. I used to have pretty bad OCD but I took Paxil to 'cure' that and some other issues. It actually helped a lot. I used to be so germ-phobic, I couldn't flick a lightswitch without going to wash my hands.

I read somewhere where purell was the worst thing for you.
I, on the other hand, know that teh skin on my hands is in good condition and I know that the reason we have skin is to protect ourselves from germs.
I also read somewhere where a dogs mouth is cleaner than your hands - even after you washed them.

Ugh, I'm such a grammar nazi. I actually corrected my editor's grammar today when she was writing.
I also compulsively apply cherry Chapstick and almost always have it on me. If I don't any on me when I need it, I get really nervous and all my thoughts are focused on where my Chapstick is and when I can next get to it.
I'm not obsessive about washing my hands, but I am strict. I've worked with children for too long to not understand the importance of it.

Oh- I forgot, I am also extremely compulsive with having a watch. Last week my watch was itching and I took it off for the night. The next morning I forgot to put it back on and all day I kept looking at my arm. *I must have looked mightly stupid* I realized that day how many times I actually check the time.
I was freaking out all day. My watch is a part of my body.

My watch ran out of batteries 3 days ago and I haven't had a chance to buy a new battery or replacement, yet I've still put it on every time I've gone out because I feel naked without it. It's been 5:40pm since Sunday!
Geez, SweetQ, you really bring out the OCDs in me that I never realized I had!

It would be easier and take less time to list the things I'm NOT OC about:
a. Ummm . . .
b. Uhhhh . . .
Oh, nevermind.

Ah, BSoBW2 you caught me! I added the beginning of the sentence at the end, so I guess I missed a word. I usually would be obsessive enough to go back and edit my first post, but since you've copied it, I guess I can let it slide this time.
But it kills me.
I'm okay with not wearing a watch all the time, but I have to be able to find out what time it is. I usually check my cell phone, but on planes I go crazy if I forgot to wear a watch.

Type_A_Tiff - we all have more OCD things we do that we don't realize. If I knew all the OCD things I did, I wouldn't be able to concentrate on anything else. My life is OCD...lol
Oh- and Liam brings up a good point with the cotton balls and Q-tips. My therapist at my old school *That already goes to show my crazyness* could not even go near cotton balls. He would quiver like someone scratching finger nails on a chalkboard.

Posted: 9/21/05 at 9:35pmMy dad can't touch cotton balls. He really freaks out when you tear them apart; he can't do it himself when he needs to, he makes someone else do it for him and leaves the room.

eponine, it may be easier to flush using a kleenex rather than your foot?
for me it's toilet paper......I am obsessive about having enough toilet paper......for what, only God knows, but should there ever be a shortage, I'll make a fortune!

Oh- here I am again! Talking about toilet paper. I have to have my toilet paper with the paper rolling out from the front (you guys know what I mean?)
If I am in someone else's house or any public bathroom and it's on the wrong way, I will change it. I feel soo embaressed when I do it but I guess I am just anal.

Oh no, Elphaba, I'm also a foot-flusher. I don't want my face to even hower over a toilet bowl (which partially explains why I don't drink very often)...on the flip side, I also can't exhale over food or when I'm drinking from a cup, no matter what the proximity is between my nose and the food. The thought of some random micro-booger flakes drifting in makes me ill.
I'm a toilet paper freak as well. It's the first thing I check when I go into a bathroom stall. (Second thing is that no one left their 'yellow friend-lettes' on the toilet seat.)
I should stop reading this thread before I over-analyze all my quirks.

...oops.
But I do have a compulsion of having everyone like me, so I'll send 20 your way to compensate!

DG, if I've sent someone a PM, I obsessively check until I get a response!
#48re: What are you obsessive compulsive about?
Posted: 9/21/05 at 9:49pmBut wouldn't you rather the conversation just sort of end before it lulls into polite responses that neither party is interested in anymore? I like to leave on top!
