Passover starts with searching. First, we search the stores for the best deal on matzo, gefilte fish, etc. Then we search our homes for leaven and get rid of the things that we may not eat during the holiday. Next, we search for all the Passover dishes, pots and utensils . At the Seder we search for the Afikomen. Passover is the festival that celebrates our freedom from slavery. The Hebrews wandered in the desert for many generations in hopes of seeking their freedom. Freedom isn't something that just seems to happen to you.....we must be active and seek it.

On the day after Passover I usually learn thaat all the good Passover foods at the supermarket are half price. What does a goy care if the holiday is over? The food still tastes good!
I hope everyone who celebrated Passover found it a genuine blessing.
I learned that people far away from you can still touch your heart in ways you never thought possible... a little 8 year old girl who I know though CaringBridge sent me a hand made card in the mail. She sent me one at Chanukah, too. They're both in a box under my bed. I know I'll keep them forever.

Dollypop...today I got matzo meal and gefilte fish half price. However, the holiday doesn't end until Sunday at sundown. I need prunes! But the holiday is much more than food.

My Muslim friends tell me that they can't wait for the holidays to be over so they can stock up on chocolate Santas or Easter Bunnies. They say they taste even better when they're 75% off!
I learned that my friend (my beautiful Yiddishe mama) was not online today because she was sick, but because there is no work today because of Passover.
How's that?

Rath today isn't considered a holiday. It is Chol Ha Moed or the intermmediate days of Passover. The next day to be considered a holiday is Saturday at sundown and Sunday until sundown when Passover ends. Then we can eat pizza.
Are you calling my mama a Passover cheat?

No. I am not. Just stating the facts
I learned what an amazing family I have.
Just don't be talkin' 'bout my mama, Yenta.
I learned that my friends are clueless about Passover.
Me: *eating matzah before class*
My friend (who is very smart but very ditzy): I thought you weren't allowed to eat matzah on Passover.
Me: *headdesk* Molly, that's like the only thing we CAN eat!
Molly: Oh, but I usually have matzah everyday for lunch, and I went to the store the other day and there wasn't any!
Me: *exasperation/amusement* That's probably because all the JEWS bought it for Passover.
Molly: Oh.
That gave me a good laugh.
haha, that made me laugh, ElphieDefiesGravity!
That's funny.
My friend calls me and says "Hey, when is your fast over so we can go out?"
"Fast?" I respond? "Yeah, fast - you said you can't eat anything!"
Well, that's what it feels like!
I learned...that corn syrup and soy lechitin really are in EVERY food item in the world.
I've learned that people of Jewish faith have waaaaay too many holidays than the rest of us.
I learned that gefilte fish should not under any circumstances be served in a college dining hall.

Fitty Cent donated a huge number of cooks to our school and sponsored an essay contest based upon the books. When I introduced these books to my classes, I referred to the man as "Mr Cent" and the class roared. Wouldn't that be the proper way to address the gentleman?
lol. i guess so. or Mister Fitty
A huge number of cooks?

I learned keeping kosher for passover is so hard. I am usually on vacation during passover so i never do it. Also i was at my friends and they were keeping kosher so i learned how to eat matzah for every meal. Matzah pizza is really good. I also learned a seder goes by quicker when your grandma buys english haggadahs!
I learned that the egg on the table wasn't a poorly hidden Easter egg.

Nothing really, becuase I'm not Jewish, just Jewish at heart. But I did snack on the rest of the chocolate chip macaroons and rugalah that was left. :-/ If you really consider that Jewish...then I'm happy.
I also learned Matzah Brie is best with Egg Matzah
