" 'babe', it reminds me of the pig or Britney Spears. Which remind me of each other... "
LMAO!
I feel bad for straight guys.
Girls are complicated.
There are three really common words that are used to describe attractive people:
Beautiful. Cute. Hot.
Almost every female that I have discussed this with is offended by one of the three words above, even though they are all generally used as compliments.
If a girl who thinks of herself as "hot" is called "cute", she might start breathing fire.
And sometimes, the people who are most offended are the ones who are like picture-perfect examples of the word.
I have a gorgeous, friend who does modelling and who HATES being called BEAUTIFUL.
I have a tiny, adorable friend who HATES being called CUTE.
I have a sexual, skanky-clothes-wearing friend who HATES being called HOT.
There's really no rhyme or reason to it.
And God help the man that refers to a woman as "PRETTY".
Now personally, the word doesn't bother me at all.
But I have met several girls that somehow abhor that word.
So really, I guess just think of all three of the words as a compliment, because that's almost always the spirit in which they are intended.
amen FF....A-freakin-men!
The great and powerful Cheno's view on the matter:
"I used to want to be tall, and then I thought, 'If I were tall, then people would say I was pretty and not cute.' And then I realized that there are worse things than being called cute. They could say I was a bitch, which would be terrible in my book. So I've decided that this height ain't so bad."

Here it goes.............My screenname on the internet is Cuewtiepie. I chose that name because I am cute. Even at the age of 47 I like to think of myself that way............just because I can! Also, I have dimples and some of them are even on my face.
now I wanna see those dimples, Yenta.

Guido: You will just have to stand online with countless others if you want to see my dimples. Unless, you just want to see the ones on my face.
yes darlin, that's all i'm interested in
Thank you for the insight, people! I've decided not to worry about being called "cute" or "cutie", because I've been called worse, so this ain't all bad! (JohnPopa - they wanna see me naked? YESSSSS!!!! Totally platonic. I swear.)
Nothing wrong with platonic nudity. Can't we all get naked?
'cutie' - the definition depends on the age, gender and sexual orientation of the person I think
If it's a gay guy calling you a 'cutie' it means you are personable, fun to be around, and probably have some little physical or personality trait that makes them want to hug you.
If it's a woman, it means that you are sweet, sensitive, and sexually non-threatening
If it's a straight guy...well, come to think of it, I've never heard a straight guy refer to another adult in this way, so never mind

I think that "cute" means that the guy likes you and finds you attractive, but mainly isn't intimidated by you and finds you very easy to hang out with.
"hot" would mean: I'd really like to, but I'm afraid of her, or afraid of being shot down, and I probably wouldn't be able to relate to her anyway.
at least 80% of the time.
So the general consensus is to strive for cuteness instead of hotness for a meaningful relationship/friendship?

Sounds about right. And going by your avatar, I think you are attractive no matter what word you want to use.(as a straight girl speaking to another straight girl)
The question is, are you interested in any of these guys who call you cute?
being a male who likes girls more than guys...I think she's pretty damn attractive, myself.
I heart you both too, loves. Although having somewhat of a confidence issue, I would hasten to disagree. (The only reason I put that pic up there was so I could see Dean Armstrong and Andy Meeks's faces every time I post. )
Am I interested in either of the guys? Well, if this makes sense, I know no relationship will come of it, but I do find one of them very, um, f***able, for lack of a better word, and would just like to know that the feelings would be reciprocated if situational issues would have allowed it.
good luck, tiff. I'd F*** ya, if it makes you feel any better.

"and would just like to know that the feelings would be reciprocated if situational issues would have allowed it. "
In non-ivy-leaguish, does this mean you would like friends with benefits?
"good luck, tiff. I'd F*** ya, if it makes you feel any better."
Much.
And not necessarily friends with benefits, it would just be nice to know that they're physically attracted to me. (Not that this should make the responses regarding the meaning of "cutie" any different for my sake. I'm just genuinely curious. This other sub-plot is whole other issue.)
i don't like the word cute... i'm still single cuz i'm "cute in a little brother way"... i need people to start saying i'm HOT
my ego's gonna suffer either way :P

I will hear the subplot if you choose to share.
I'll help you write the subplot if you're taking applications.
I just meant the subplot about wanting these guys (or one in particular) to be physically attracted to me. It's just weird because aside from "hey girl", then "cutie" is the only word they use to address me!
Zepka - Word. When I think "cute", I think Kristen Chenoweth. And I nearly cry.

Guido, are you stalking/molesting/sexually harassing Tiff?
no Nia...although I'm curious as to why you always assume someone is being stalked or molested. care to elaborate, young'n?
