Ok my mom calls her dog her daugther at least she has since I moved out. It is kind of irritating. And my aunt who calls me her "niece-daughter" named her dog after me. Should I be worried about their opinion of me? lol

Wasn't Oprah like sexually abused and had a daughter at like 15 that died? I think that's what happened. My mom told me that and she is a big oprah fan. I might be wrong so don't take this as a fact.

Well at least Oprah went on a diet and wont steal the child's food away from there. I see Sally in those commercials (well saw) and all I could think was. And there you are going over there eating all their food. I could just see her off camera smacking the little kids hands as they reached up to beg for a bite of her pizza and pork chops lol...

If you get to close I doubt Sally would be able to differeniate a child from a turkey leg. Well I guess she rationalized it by saying "Now there is one less hungry child in the world"

It's the dog. It's about the dog having issues and they are having the "Dog Whisperer" on to talk to her.

People who get this hung up on their pets are mentally ill. If you've been watching "Showdogs Moms & Dads" on A&E you'll know what I mean. I've read articles about this subject that refer to these people as "Petrosexuals" which is kind of funny-- the guy who wrote the article was saying he would no longer date women with dogs as you always come second to the dog.

I have a friend who is obsessed with her dog. She takes it everywhere. If you suggest a place to go, she immediately will say "They won't allow Seamus!" Or if she has never been there she will drill you "Do they allow dogs? Have you seen a dog there?" Don't suggest that the dog might not want to go to brunch. The dog must go everywhere with "Mom." Work, lunch, the mall, vacation....it's sick.

And no I am not heartless. I love animals, but think that they are NOT human beings, are NOT replacement children and are perfectly able to wait at home while you go grocery shopping.

This really has nothing to do with Oprah and her children, but I just read the second post about it being on Monday, and I realized that I would be home from college by then and I could watch all the TV I want!

I don't really care if people baby their dogs or treat them as replacement children. What I don't agree with is people who don't even allow their dogs to be dogs. For example, never allowing them to walk on the ground, not letting them play with other dogs, basically just carrying them everywhere and treating them like accesories. It's an easy way to make your dog neurotic and afraid of most situations.

I think if the Oprah thing is really about one of her dogs it's kind of lame to advertise it like this to arouse interest, but I think dog behaviorists and people like the dog whisperer do know what they're talking about and can be helpful in rehabilitating aggressive dogs and finding reasons for bad behavior/methods to curb it.

Isn't dressing your dog in human clothing and anthropomorphizing it in other ways just another example of not letting your dog be a dog?
