As a woman, Rosemary's Baby and The Stepford Wives (the original) are terrifying.

Thanks, Mekroth for freaking me out with that Youtube series! I just watched them all...freaky! And...to be continued!

I recall a pretty good one that I went to see with my brother when I was at WVU. Some scientists, in an old school or something, had contained the Devil in the basement. It got out! He kills them off methodically! Kinda creepy, but I CANNOT remember the name of it... It freaked us both out!

The Japanese film 'Phone' is not the scariest film but is very unnerving on first viewing.

I do love "Carnival of Souls"...saw it on tv for the first time a few years ago and I thought it was terrific, even if I guessed the ending.

Exorcist 3 is terrific and, while not as scary as the original, has a few amazing moments of horror, and it's also a great story.

"Are you here to fix my radio?"

I love me some Freddy Kruger, and LOVE the original film (very disappointed in the remake) even if the tagon almost ruined it. The person I saw it with gave me a heads up on that. The third in the series with Patricia Arquette is also great imo. Scary and I love the plot.

"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."

Aw...I love to see people discuss Carnival of Souls. Jerby, Calvin and I know one of the original stars of the film, Sidney Berger. When I studied with him, he had just finished filming a cameo in the remake. One of his favorite stories to tell is about the filming of the infamous eye-in-the-keyhole scene.

MARTYRS, despite its ingenious script, is NOT for everyone.

One worth checking out is the enjoyable B-movie THE DENTIST, featuring a surprisingly wonderful performance by Corbin Bernsen. Again...not for dentist-fearers!

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

"You reminded me of a double-feature I saw in around 1962, of CARNIVAL OF SOULS and EYES WITHOUT A FACE. The images from both films have lasted a lifetime!"

Yeah Johnboy2, that is what I consider a good well made horror film, when the images linger for years and years.
Yes, the ending of Carnival of Souls is today cliche, but it wasn't in '62. I believe the Pavilion still stands on the Great Salt Lake!

I watched about 30 minutes of Splice and found it way too silly to continue. Honestly, I was just laughing, but not in a way that made me want to watch any more.

I had no idea there was a remake. Anyone see it?

JEEPERS CREEPERS 2 is fun and full of beefcake!

geaj, I think the movie you are trying to recall is:

Prince of Darkness:

A cylinder of mysterious, green liquid is found in an abandoned church. It may contain the ultimate evil: an ancient iniquity that longs to escape. Several physicists try to comprehend what's happening and race to save the world, even as they're being turned into zombies one by one. Director John Carpenter fills Prince of Darkness with his trademark mix of horror and humor.

Thank you for bringing up Prince of Darkness! I was thinking about that film with regards to this thread, but I couldn't remember the name of it. It's silly, but FUN. My friends and I had such a great time watching that when it originally opened. I'm in the mood to watch it again.

YEP! Taz, Thanks for the input but it wasn't The Evil, it was mid-eighties. It was The Prince of Darkness! I didn't know it was a Carpenter film! Thanks!

I really enjoyed SPLINTER, a nifty little sci-Fi thriller, with some good moments. I also love DEAD of NIGHT, not really a horror film, but very, very creepy...esply the last story about the Dummy.

I just finished Splice and it was beyond creeptastic, but in the end, very predictable.

On to Let The Right One In.

That's a great film Jersey.

The American version is the rare remake that's actually better than its source. It fills out some of the relationships that are left a bit vague in the original.

Both are great films though.

The Swedish version I had had a bad English dub with HORRIBLE voice actors. Maybe I will download the American version! Thanks.

The Stuff isn't scary, but it is HILARIOUS! I remember watching it in high school. It is the only film I've ever seen that was about killer yogurt.
