re: What started your love of the theater?

My parents had me in the theater from the day I was born. So I was brought up that way and I only knew how to appreciate it! I saw my first musical when I was 20 months old and from that moment on my mom knew I would be into it for life!
It started with a sipmle idea, collecting one paper clip for every life lost, the feelings that connect us...are greater than those that divide us!

Part of it came naturally. I remember checking out cast recordings at my local library at a very young age, the first ones being "Oklahoma" and "Gypsy" (w/ Ethel Merman). Whereas my brothers were taken to sporting events, I was taken to see shows.

When I was 12, my mom's best friend (they've been friends since they were in 7th grade) took me to the Metropolitan Opera House to see "Hansel & Gretl". The following year she took me to see "The Nutcracker". She reminded me a lot of an Auntie Mame and ironically her name is May Marie. I adore this woman. She knew of my love for theatre and insisted I be exposed to it.

I finally saw my first Broadway show January 15, 1978 ("Annie").

I was so fortunate to have people in my life who encouraged my love of music and theatre.
Hey Dottie! Did your colleagues enjoy the cake even though your cat decided to sit on it? ~GuyfromGermany
